Speaker 0 00:00:00 Use yourself to myself and the world and tell us who you are and what you're about. Speaker 1 00:00:05 Sure. My name is crystal Lynch and I'm the owner of the Chrysalis method. Speaker 0 00:00:10 Okay. And so crystal, what is this method about Speaker 1 00:00:14 Basically? Um, it's about what happens when you decide to evolve? Um, it's almost like, uh, a reincarnation of now. So rather than thinking of reincarnation in like, oh, in my next life or a past life, it's we can, we have the ability to just evolve ourselves into, I don't want to say like better beings, but maybe just like, I like to personally focus on happiness and contentment. So that's kind of what it's about Speaker 0 00:00:48 Point, uh, and this is nothing against the education system, but if you think about one skill that we need as adults that we use every day is, is financial literacy, right? We're making decisions, financial decisions. Every day we get up in the morning. Am I going to make my lunch? Am I going to buy it? Uh, I got to pay a bill. I go shopping. And even, even though, you know, where you're buying groceries, it doesn't seem like a, a consequential decision, but it is a financial decision. Right. So, you know, and the school doesn't prepare us for that. Right. And, uh, it's kinda funny. I saw this, uh, I was talking to Tanner too, but, uh, I was taught, uh, saw this cartoon that talked about I'm so glad I learned about parallelograms. Cause it came early handy, this parallel grime season. Right. You know, and I'm not, you know, nothing against the math teachers out there, eh, but you know, in addition to the math and the sciences and social study in English, why don't we add, you know, financial literacy? Speaker 0 00:01:47 So we prepare these kids for adulthood. Right. Uh, you know, and, and I know some schools are starting to do that, but you know, doing it in grade 11 or 12 and one, you know, let's say a couple of chapters on how to bank and get a credit card is not, it doesn't do no. You know, so it doesn't suffice. Right? We need to teach kids at the elementary stage junior high and high school so that when they get to university college, whatever they do, they're able to manage money. His teachers have reached out to me as moms reach out to me, foundations have reached out to me to talk to this guy. So it's going to be a fun one, get ready for it and get ready to say, Aw. So I don't introduce my guests. They introduce themselves because they can do a better job. So hello, young man. Can you please introduce yourself to the people at home? Speaker 2 00:02:34 Hi, my name is Jose. Speaker 0 00:02:37 I hold in nine years old. Okay. So hold in nine years old. What are you doing here today? Why is everybody telling me? I got to sit down with this amazing young man. Speaker 2 00:02:45 Well, I saw this movie and I got, I got really inspired by it. So I sorta wanted to do the same thing. So I showed different types of stuff. Speaker 0 00:03:01 People are in the hospital. Very cool. So you can do a better job at it than myself. So can you please introduce yourself to the people at home? Absolutely. Speaker 1 00:03:11 Yes. My name is Melanie Ferris. I'm the, uh, well, first of all, resident, certainly for McMurry and, uh, owner of chocolates and candlelight little shop in Timberly for those people who somehow have not reached Speaker 0 00:03:21 Us. There you go. I wouldn't call it a little. And I would assume at this point, most people know of your store. Speaker 1 00:03:28 Well, yeah, but then, you know, in the last week I've had a handful of people, again, as we normally do, come in saying Speaker 0 00:03:35 I haven't been in here yet. It's crazy Speaker 3 00:03:39 For having me today, Elliot, it's great to be able to sit and chat with you again. It's been awhile. It has. Yeah, but uh, yeah, my name is Jason King and um, I'm actually currently working with some other solutions. I'm the executive director there. I've been with the agency now for about three and a half years prior to that. Um, I was with, uh, wood, Buffalo housing, and then I was into retail. Uh, my family and I we've been here in Fort McMurray now 10 years, Speaker 0 00:04:04 10 years. Wow. Time flies, time Speaker 3 00:04:06 Goes fast. You know, we're the typical people that came to Fort McMurray with the short-term plan and we just made it home. So here we are to stay and our daughter went through school here and she's now graduated and still living home. But, uh, going about her thing now, and I'm progressing, going through university, right in regards Speaker 0 00:04:24 To yourself, I know like you have this career that you're doing right now, but in your off time, you, uh, you liked to mess around with music. Speaker 4 00:04:32 Yeah. I like to DJ a lot. I do some of that here and there. I do have a SoundCloud. I don't really make music much, but I'm trying to learn. And you know, you have to do that somehow and try to make it a hobby and some day hopefully. Yeah. Some job or something like that, you know? Speaker 0 00:04:49 Cool. So now with the deejaying, I'm old school, when people, I remember when I used to have friends who DJ'ed, it was on the ones and twos. They had like the records and you had to, now there's ways to DJ. Now you can use like records you can use. I don't even know what they're called the turntables without records. Yeah. And there's also the DJs. Yeah. Dex. Thank you. Okay. There we go. And there's also DJs that like just are using computers. Speaker 4 00:05:16 Yeah, exactly. You can just use a laptop. Speaker 0 00:05:18 Right. So what kind of DJ are you Speaker 4 00:05:20 And DJ and why? Well, I just make a, you know, like 40 minute mix of just a compilation of songs and stuff like that. And then I'll sometimes do a mashup of those two songs or whatever, just to give it like, you know, a new spice or new kicker. Speaker 0 00:05:34 Cool. For like the new age mix tape. Yeah, exactly. Nice. Okay. What kind of music are we talking about here? Speaker 4 00:05:41 Uh, EDM specifically dub stuff. Yeah. Okay. Speaker 0 00:05:44 Now for an old man, like myself, Tanner has been Speaker 5 00:05:47 <inaudible> ugly.
