Speaker 0 00:00:00 For the city council. That's a different beast. It's a different one on that. If you're not aligned, if you're not aligned, be the city Koestler people will eat you up on your first day. You can look across the table and have a cry. I have a habit, you in situation, conversation with somebody like we are now, right? And we both agree that the sky is blue. And if somebody close to him ever gets close to them, they'll tell you the sky was red an hour later. But I think the biggest thing I'll take away from my two terms that city council, city council, every decision that's made by bureaucrats city council, where's it. And I can tell you the last three and a half years in this community, we could have been so much better as a team to serve residents that so deserve it. Speaker 0 00:01:03 And people got to realize when you're elected, you have one vote. That's it? No matter if you're a mayor or a counselor from downtown Fort McMurray or uptown or Greg wire or uptown in Timberly. But when you get in that seat, when you get in that seat, you have to realize every man, woman, and child, no matter what color, no matter what race, no matter where we're from, we need to represent the region. We've allowed ourselves to become the doormat of just about every level of government, every member of, of a need that needs to come for some kind of funding. And we just sit back and watch it all happen. How many communities in Canada could build a dike that they know they're going to move? How many communities can say, we're going to spend 35 million to build a snow dump. When I have elders, seniors, and kids with no place to live, then decisions are made for us. What is time is time that the elected officials be heard. And I can tell you that this hasn't been a joy ride. You know, I've learned so much on city council about the ugly side of life. Speaker 1 00:02:40 It's a tough gig. There's no doubt about that. Jeez, listen, I love diggers. It was amazing. Diggers was the spot. Like I couldn't wait to turn 18 years. I'm born and raised here. So I couldn't wait to go to diggers. A little thing about diggers, a little, little fact for the new schoolers who don't know this, there used to be Chinese restaurant. There was in the back. Yeah. Above and, uh, in the back would he used to be on top. I remember as a kid. And it was like from my memories and they're fading nowadays, but it was like, what a, what? The old school movies look like, um, in regards to disrupting or describing a Chinese restaurant, it was red and had curtains and velvet and stuff. Absolutely. Speaker 2 00:03:22 Don't forget the guy who sold the hot dogs outside. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:03:24 Well the hot dog man. Yeah, he was good. I liked him. I also liked about diggers. You get, uh, get off sales after the place closed. They were, Hey Molly. 30 bucks. That's right. But man, it was a spot and it like the carpet going up the stairs just classic. We had a few days ago. It aired yesterday. I think Keith graph. I don't know if you know, you've probably heard he came to Louie. He got his start informing Marie back in the day being one of the DJ's. Yeah. So he went literally from DJ diggers to counselor his story from there to there is, is hilarious. Actually. Not than I ever can. So on that note, can you please introduce yourself and tell everybody who you are? Speaker 3 00:04:09 Thanks Elliot. Uh, my name is Kristy Stonehouse. I work with Coldwell banker Fort McMurray. I've been with them for both 13 years now going on 14 years, um, for my, my entire real estate career. Speaker 1 00:04:21 There you go. That's a long time. It is. Wow. Yeah. Okay. Speaker 4 00:04:26 Oh boy. You know what it's, you know, again, when I came, I did have a, you know, really a two year plan in the, you know, like most people come, um, you know, w I wanted a smaller town. I was can thinking that I maybe I'd go back to, uh, you know, a place where I grew up Fort St. John, you know, another smaller town or grand Prix where my mother was at the time. Um, but you know, it just grew here and flourished and you know, the opportunity and what Fort McMurray has given me, my family, I could never have gotten anywhere else Speaker 1 00:04:59 In this community. And I have aspirations of playing on the oil barons, fundamentally, what should I be focusing on Speaker 2 00:05:08 My opinion or the coaches of Speaker 1 00:05:11 Coaching here? Speaker 2 00:05:13 Yeah. Um, so there's a lot of stuff they work on, you know what, on my part, cause I'm in the room and stuff, attitude, how you present yourself listening skills. Um, just the basic fundamentals of life in regards to my job and my part as to the coach, it would be like development, foot work, agility, sticking only shooting the park, eye contact, all that stuff. But regardless to me, it's like, I'm basically a mother of 25 kids, right? So you go through a lot of learning curves and stuff. You get kids that are 16 to 20 coming onto your team and you deal with a lot of different things throughout the course of the time. You're within nine months. Where with them? Yeah. Around. Yeah. Okay. There you go. Speaker 5 00:06:02 I just dies that desk. Another Mac city morning show Don. Speaker 7 00:06:19 Yeah. Talk about quenching your ugly thirsty.
