Speaker 0 00:00:01 Hi guys, welcome to the Mac city morning show. I'm Paige Sera. I'll be your host for today. Um, I know Elliot likes to start off the show on a positive note. So I'm going to, uh, first thank everybody for tuning in super grateful for being in this chair today. Feeling super important, sitting here and, uh, yeah, just grateful for this beautiful day. It's supposed to be 27 degrees today. Tanner hit him with the intro. Speaker 1 00:00:26 Oh, she caught me loves you're listening to the next anymore. Speaker 0 00:00:36 Okay. And we're back. So I've got Elliot sitting here with me today. Big surprise. It is to show up at all. But you guys, I had to steal a seat because to be honest with you, this is my good side. Speaker 2 00:00:46 I love it. When you, when you're like, Hey, can we switch seats? And I was like, yeah. Under one circumstance you host Speaker 0 00:00:52 The show. No, I didn't think you'd be up for it. So thank you. I mean, how do I look? Oh, you look Speaker 2 00:00:56 Good. You could be like a normal guest host if you like anytime. Yeah, I do this five days a week. So I'll take a break. Happily, happily going. There we go. Okay. So you are the host, so it's just a conversation for the most part, but I'm going to get you started in regards to, I'm going to let you get it started. You can ask me. Speaker 0 00:01:15 Ooh. Okay. Elliot. Um, first of all, I actually don't know. When did the show start? How long have you been doing this? Now we have Speaker 2 00:01:21 Been doing this show since January of this year. Um, and we've been doing it every day, five days a week since January the 18th. So a few weeks ago we actually hit our hundredth episode. So we're over a hundred episodes now. That's Speaker 0 00:01:35 Awesome. Do you ever take a day off? Speaker 2 00:01:38 No. No, we don't. Yeah. Tan take some days off. I don't, I like the thing here's the thing about myself is I like to have fun and I like to work, but I only like to work on things that I have fun at. So you're not like, although people say like you're so busy and you're always working, which is completely true. It's things that I really are passionate about. And I like doing so with this show, I love showing up. I love talking to people. So the days, cause we do a lot of filming that we're not here. Like I miss it. So yeah. Here, Speaker 0 00:02:14 What are you doing? What other projects do you have on the go right now? Well, Speaker 2 00:02:17 Greenlight creative is the company that I owned that I never talk about unless somebody, so myself and my business partner, Jason Phillips big shout out JP, uh, we own a digital marketing company, um, called Greenlight creative. Um, and we represent a number of different companies here in town and in Edmonton actually. So as far as like their websites or videos posting their whole social media, it depends on what they require. Yeah. I keep myself super busy. That is, that is. And uh, in our heads it was a good idea. But as far as filming is concerned, it's the worst idea because these green chairs just absorb light, but yeah. That's why the chairs you're smart. That is why they're green. Yeah. For Greenlight creative. So like we, we have a whole theory about reverse marketing and not talking about our company. Just subliminally kind of placing it in places. Speaker 2 00:03:05 And that's a nice way to say he's bad at sales. Yeah. I'm horrible at sales. I don't like selling stuff. Yeah. I just feel, especially with my company is I like to build relationships and I find if you build a relationship with somebody, then you'll have a better interaction and you'll have more longevity in that client relationship. So, um, my thought process has never like knock on a door and say like, Hey, this is what I do. Um, people come and they say, Hey, can you help me? And then we build a relationship and then it goes from there, that's the best way being like a shoulder, Speaker 0 00:03:42 If anyone needs some help advice, tips, it usually turns into business, right? Speaker 2 00:03:47 Like this week alone, I've spoken to three different non-for-profits and explain to them like how social media works and they can't always afford the service, but at least they have like the framework of how to do it themselves. Um, and that's for free. Any, anybody out there wants to know how to do what my company does, more than happy to talk about it. Um, and I find like that's a real good way of getting business action Speaker 0 00:04:09 Giving back. But then also in return, they'll speak highly of you to people they talk about and that word of mouth referral, those are the best ways to get business. Yes, that's Speaker 2 00:04:16 It. And I have to imagine in your business, that's kind of how it goes the exact Speaker 0 00:04:19 Same. I mean, people just start talking about how great the service is and that's how you build your customer, your good strong customer base, rather a referral over just a random phone call anyway. Great. That's Speaker 2 00:04:29 Right now a big component of what I do, which I'm happy to have starting again. It's like, I like to go out and meet people. So things are opening up again, which I'm super excited about because that's a big component of like what people see me online obviously, but actually like getting to sit down and meet with them. Right? I Speaker 0 00:04:49 Know things are gonna, are we gonna have to wear these next time we come on? Or Speaker 2 00:04:53 These masks, the thing about these massive people don't recognize is like, these microphones are awesome and they're extremely high quality. However you put this in front of it and it jacks up the sound. So as soon as these masks are off, Ugh, I've turned on volume at home. Speaker 0 00:05:09 Okay. Gosh, it's gonna be so much fun. The second we're not allowed. Call me back. Not that these aren't bad. These are actually pretty neat, nifty little things. Speaker 2 00:05:18 They do the job. So I big congratulations to you though. I saw that, uh, you sold and your husband sold your project, huh? Yeah. Yeah. Speaker 0 00:05:27 So the Berry homes she's done, we put up on the market, had an offer within 12 hours, big shout out to my husband because I don't know what camera to look at, but he's incredible. Yeah. Um, yeah, someone fell in love with it right away and it is officially sold. So woo go husband. So Speaker 2 00:05:43 That was like a huge project for you guys in regards to like, I followed it online as you guys like purchased and started doing the renos and everything else. So how myself and Tanner are addicted to HGTV. So like, there's like a lot of shows on what you guys did. Um, how did you guys get involved or want to get involved in that? Cause it's a lot. Speaker 0 00:06:03 Oh my goodness. To be honest with you, it was just one of those nights where we were all, you know, having a few drinks and feeling super ambitious. And we like partnered up with his brother-in-law to get our first flip and Greg voir, we did a trailer and we just kind of caught the bug. I don't remember exactly how, but I know my husband and his brothers and his dad, they've always been very handy and they've done like their own basement developments and you know, sweets and fixer-uppers at the house. Like, you can do this, like let's, let's give it a go. So we did sold that one right away as well. Right. And we bought the Paris house, did that one and then the Barry house. So that's three projects we've completed. Now. This one was the biggest one for sure. Six months it took. And he's also working full time as a heavy duty mechanic. So I mean, huge shout out to my husband. Incredible Speaker 2 00:06:48 What he does. All the dogs. Speaker 0 00:06:50 Yes. All the dogs. We now have three. Speaker 2 00:06:53 I've never sat down with somebody. We, we were sitting down in a few days ago and he was pushing hard for me to get a dog. And it was, it was comical in regards to, it probably will never happen. And, but he was just like, no, I'm going to. And, but it wasn't like aggressive. He was just like, Hey listen. And this is why and what about this? And I was like, Speaker 0 00:07:16 No, I feel like it's how you guys always say, kids are the best. We're very much. So like, no, you need a dog Speaker 2 00:07:22 Kids. Aren't the best. By the way, like, that's fake. Like, I don't know why people say that. Like my kid is the best because he's my kid. Of course I can assure you other kids. Yeah. They're not like, that's the one thing I've recognized. And I dunno, I say whatever I want on my show. Um, just, you don't have to like, all kids Speaker 0 00:07:44 Have to like all kids. I say that aggressively. Now my godsends are incredible. Like I Alyssa I'm her, baby's godson. My sister. I'm that? Baby's God son. Yeah. Otherwise, no offense to everyone out there. Who's a mom or a parent, but you're not just not our thing. But dogs all day, we'll take all the dogs probably because they can't talk. And they just got unconditional love, you know, the snuggles. Yeah. Speaker 3 00:08:06 We get nicer as they get older. Speaker 2 00:08:08 Yeah. No kids just get meaner as they get older and they talk back and you don't know my kid a few days ago, it was the best burn ever. But I liked that he's witty. He's got a big head. And so I was like, I gave him one of my baseball hats. I'm like, here, you can probably wear this. And I thought you meant like his ego? Oh no, no, no. The physical size of his head. So I gave him one of my hats and I was like, man, you got a big head. And he just looked at me like quickly. It's like, you've got a big mouth. And I'm like, oh, how old is he? Six. Oh my God. I was like shots fired. And I started to laugh and then he started to laugh and it was a whole thing. And I had to explain like, you know, that was extremely rude. Right. And he's like, yeah, but it's just you and me. And I'm like, yeah, it's totally cool. But uh, wow. Speaker 0 00:08:51 You're going to have your hands full with that one. I Speaker 2 00:08:56 He's a handful, but I, I encourage that kind of behavior. I encourage Speaker 0 00:09:00 Push back your mind, Speaker 2 00:09:02 Dude. Respectfully, respectfully, respectfully. So Speaker 0 00:09:06 Yeah. Well, yeah, no, my dog doesn't do that. No. So you guys have three now we officially unofficially. Um, yeah, we took in another rescue, you know, us, the revolving door at our house. This is our 13th one in the last year and a half. And not letting this one go. So Speaker 2 00:09:23 How do you, cause you build a bond, you build a relationship once these rescue dogs come into your home. Yeah. So how hard is it to like then let that all go to another family? That's Speaker 0 00:09:32 A good thing. Right? So at the end of the day, like you have to remember it's, you know, you've helped that animal out of a situation and onto a better life, but you do put in a lot of work, especially with puppies, you know, and a lot of, a lot of sleepless nights sometimes. Um, but yeah, it's the best. And sometimes by the end of it, I'm like, please take this puppy out of my puppies are a lot of work and we got a ton of them this last year. So Speaker 2 00:09:53 I was just going to ask that like, do you only take puppies or some of them older? Or how does this all work? So Speaker 0 00:09:58 Our very first one was actually like a 15 year old, some sort of a lab cross could barely stand. It was heart-wrenching. So that's actually how the rescue kind of got started up again. When we took in that first foster and then we found out they were going to shut the rescue down and we were like, hell no, like there's more dogs to save and cats. So, um, that was first of, of what turned into many dogs yet. All sorts of whatever comes through Speaker 2 00:10:21 Our door. Oh yeah. Like dogs. I like the romantic aspect of it, but like the actual real work I'm not down for now. You can't see it. Cause that's like, you're not used to this being the host is tapping his phone. Oh, sorry. What? Okay. What'd we do so now it's 10 or segment. It's called a max city. Speaker 3 00:10:41 Who's going first. That's the question? Speaker 0 00:10:43 I think our guests should Elliot. Okay. Speaker 2 00:10:45 I'll go first. All right. Elliot, Speaker 3 00:10:48 Your first question. What is your most memorable story from your many places you've traveled? Speaker 2 00:10:55 Oh, wow. That is a deep question. Um, you know what? I am going to say the most impactful place that I've ever been is Rome. Um, in regards to it was, uh, it was like going to a different planet in regards to how they function as a society, how they just interact with one another. Um, and I had the opportunity to go to the Vatican as well, which really tested my faith to say the least. Um, and yeah, it was just a, it was a good growing trip. So, well question Speaker 3 00:11:26 Number two. What is your go-to jam out song when you're cruising and Ruby? Speaker 2 00:11:31 Oh, that's easy. That's a Maggie Mae by rod Stewart. This is my favorite song period. That's a giant. That's a banger. Yeah. Yeah. Speaker 3 00:11:40 Question number three. What is the craziest green light you've got in your life? Speaker 2 00:11:47 Oh, the craziest green light I've got in my guy. Cause Elliot Speaker 3 00:11:51 In his life. Never red lights. Only green lights. And that's why the company's called. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:11:58 The biggest green light I ever got. Craziest, craziest Greenlight I ever got. Wow. Hey man. There's so many. Okay. Listen, this company was started basically. I'll say Greenlight. Cause that's how the company was started. Somebody gave me money to start this company as a project. Like I didn't have to invest any of my own money to start this company. I had somebody that reached out and said, Hey, I want this done. Do you think you could figure out how to do it? And I was just like, yeah. And so I did, I collaborated with my business partner, Jason. So yeah. The fact that this company was started with somebody else's money. That's pretty, that's Speaker 0 00:12:31 A big green light. Yeah. Time to go. Yeah, Speaker 3 00:12:34 Exactly. Number four. What is a better song to you? Hey, they're pussycat or it's not unused. Speaker 2 00:12:42 Oh my God. That's from a skit that me and Tanner were hanging out after hours. Oh my God. What's up? What's he got Speaker 3 00:12:50 <inaudible> joke. Yeah. And your final question. What is the most memorable max CD minute answer. You can remember that a guest answered. Speaker 2 00:13:03 Oh, I, I, you asked so many good questions that I can't all of, all of your questions, blow my mind every time you answer them or ask them. I don't remember the response, but you asked the guest out of nowhere about food. I don't know if it was hot dogs or pizza to Detroit like that. That's the one that sticks out to me. You had some random stuff. Gosh, Speaker 3 00:13:23 Not the most memorable sports moments. CJ Phillips Speaker 2 00:13:27 Was that part of the maxi minutes. Okay. Well that wins it. We had a guy, CJ Phillips. I don't know if you know who he is. So he's here in town, old school, like historian. Anyways, he saw Michael Jordan do his famous dunk sports illustrated dunk. But he was there when Michael Jordan went to his brother, he was sitting next to his brother and said, what dunk do you think I should do? And his brother said, do the sports illustrated Dumpty, SSI. And he was there for that moment. And as far as like, if you watch basketball, even if you don't Michael Jordan, we all know that iconic dunk. He was there for that conversation right before that dunk took place. That's incredible. So, Speaker 3 00:14:08 And those have been your Mac city minutes Speaker 2 00:14:10 Page. You're up? Those are hard. Yeah. I Tanner Speaker 0 00:14:12 P I Tanner comes in with the heat. Like I'm a little nervous. Okay. Tanner. Let's do this. All right. Speaker 3 00:14:17 Question number one. What is your favorite thing about vanilla candles? Speaker 0 00:14:23 The scent, obviously Speaker 3 00:14:27 Question number two. What is it you love most about selling houses in Fort McMurray, Speaker 0 00:14:35 The actual going out and meeting with people and showing homes. Like I love how it's hunting. It's so much fun. Speaker 3 00:14:40 Question number three. What was your favorite moment from working a golf tournament? Speaker 0 00:14:46 Hanging out with my girl, Alyssa and getting to meet new people. Question Speaker 3 00:14:50 Number four. What is your most memorable house selling moment? Speaker 0 00:14:55 Um, Michael, I'll never forget it. Well, obviously, cause I filmed the whole thing, but he surprised his family with a house and it was like, I cried. There was so much tears. It was so magical. You need to watch the video. It's on my Facebook. I can go ahead and repost that today. Speaker 3 00:15:10 And your final question. What is your go-to snack? When you're late night, snacking, Speaker 0 00:15:16 Um, cashew, dairy, free ice cream, the cinnamon, the cinnamon cookie dough one. I can't get enough of it. Speaker 3 00:15:23 And those have been all of, Speaker 2 00:15:25 Oh, those are easy ones. I have to think. Speaker 0 00:15:30 No Tanner is that we just flip the switch really quick here, flip the script. And you came up with those questions for Elliot like that and they were good. They were good job. Well under pressure. Speaker 2 00:15:38 Yeah. Let's talk about your late night snack there. Dairy free ice cream. I don't want to say well, I don't know if I am or not, but like I can't mess with ice cream. So I don't know if I'm lactose intolerant or not. I don't know. I just know don't eat ice cream. So a few months ago I tried out some Ben and Jerry's dairy, dairy free ice cream. I think that was what's called. And it was delicious. So you primarily eat dairy free or I'm Speaker 0 00:16:03 Celiac recently diagnosed about a year and a half ago. And then I still, I think dairy probably too. So I just I've been avoiding it, but this gluten-free ice cream also just happens to be dairy free and it is so good. You can get it at save on foods. I think they come in little tubs like this there's all sorts of flavors, but that's like the cinnamon, it tastes like a chiro. Right? Is that how you like a cinnamon stick? It is so good with like cookie dough chunks in it. You need to get some, there's also peanut butter and jelly. I think there's like a banana farm bay or Speaker 2 00:16:35 Yeah, you're going to have to show me before you leave because yeah, my kid loves ice cream and he, it's a funny thing. He like, he knows I don't eat it, but it's an experience that he wants to share with me. And so he's like dad, like, especially during summertime, he's like, let's go out and meet ice and he's like, oh yeah, you can't eat ice cream. So I'm like when you said that to them. Yeah. No it's the Speaker 0 00:16:53 Best ice cream I've ever had. Even better than any ice cream ice cream Speaker 2 00:16:57 And it's like cashew milk or something. I'm going to try that out. How do you milk a cashew? Speaker 0 00:17:02 Good question, Tanner. Um, Speaker 2 00:17:04 Um, I don't know, Google, this we'll have to put a link. Yeah. So the other question a Tanner asks you is this vanilla candle thing. Speaker 0 00:17:13 Yeah. So is this like Speaker 2 00:17:15 Your scent in general? You like that? Or is this a candle thing Speaker 0 00:17:19 Or sent in general? So I suffer from migraines. God, I'm just a falling apart mess, but yeah, so I can't do perfume. He says vanilla has always just been safe. Um, but studies actually show to help sell houses, vanilla sense work the best. It like gives that homey feeling releases, endorphins, I guess just like that vanilla E fresh, fake, good scent. You want to have that sent when you're selling a home, but it also like just makes you feel happy. It gets like a psychological study thing. I want to make sure I just like it Speaker 2 00:17:47 Manila. That's the way that's okay. I'm nervous about candles. Why just in general burning down your house. Oh, okay. Yeah. Yeah. I I've had a number of people that I know. Oh, that burnt down, burnt down components of their homes. The candles. Oh yeah. Yeah. So when I was in high school, there was a kid that I was hanging out with, burnt down his house candle as an adult. And if somebody had like those, um, candles, like to keep bugs away one day, um, but they weren't like the bug candle, so please no bug candle, Sue me. Don't Sue me on that. But they just had candles in general though. Burned down their deck. So, and like, I'm kinda, absent-minded about things like I know I would forget to like blow out the candle and the next thing you know. Yeah. Definitely Speaker 0 00:18:30 Be aware and like where you're putting it too. I mean, I usually put it away in the middle of nowhere, like on its own. As soon as I'm home doing something, I definitely put on the candle and vanilla. Is that our time? Okay. It's been 10 minutes, 20 minutes. Well, that went by again. Good. Speaker 2 00:18:45 Super fast. You did a great job of being a host. This was fun. Now Speaker 0 00:18:49 I've got to figure out how to shut this thing down. So thank you so much for having me. It's been a blast and, um, Tanner, uh, what do I say? Oh, is it now my time too? Thanks for stopping in. You know who I am page, feel free to get in touch for fostering adopting animals, house real estate. Anything. Thanks for tuning in guys. We'll see you next time. Speaker 1 00:19:10 Oh, she caught me, loves near listen to the next <inaudible>.
