Speaker 0 00:00:01 Good morning, Fort McMurry, wood, Buffalo, and the rest of the world, the Mac CD morning show. I'm your host Elliot. Pierre. Let's start the show off the same way we start every show off with a moment of gratitude. I know you could be doing a million other things with your time. So the fact that you're spending with us truly does mean the world on that note. Tanner hit him with you.
Speaker 1 00:00:23 Oh, she caught me loves you're listening to the next morning show.
Speaker 0 00:00:32 All right. And we're back. Okay. I'm excited about this. Yes. Cause I actually do know her name. I don't know who she is, but uh, usually I let my guests introduce themselves because they can do a better job at that than I, but I'm going to tell you her name because it's a cool name. It's mercy. So mercy, can you please tell everybody who you are and what you're about?
Speaker 2 00:00:50 Um, I work at the former gray golf club. I'm 20 years old. Um, I graduated in 2019. I've been going to grant MacEwan university. Um, I took a bachelor of child and youth care. I recently graduated and got my diploma. Um, now I'm looking for a career,
Speaker 0 00:01:14 Go grab the cue and university. Here's the thing about that? A little fun fact. I went to Graham and Q and as well. Oh, interesting. But back in the day it wasn't called university. It was called the college. So I got my diploma in human resources from grant MacEwan college. But now I guess I can say that I didn't attend college. I attended or university. So now we talked about this just briefly. Before you got on the show, as you said, you just graduated, you went to Westwood. My cell phone boy. Tanner's composite. He's tougher than both of us. Uh, why did you decide to pick a Westwood in school? You went to high school?
Speaker 2 00:01:55 Um, all my family went there. They all graduated from there. I just knew a lot of people. Most of my friends were going there at the time. So, and the sports obviously were, uh, were a big, um, big thing for me in high school. So what sports we played? I played badminton, volleyball, track and field rugby. Pretty much whatever I could do.
Speaker 0 00:02:19 Okay. When it comes to badminton, what kind of wracking?
Speaker 2 00:02:24 Whichever rocket. I don't have a preference on that. Okay. I used
Speaker 0 00:02:29 To play badminton years, years, years ago, and I used to love the York brackets. They were my favorite just because they're outrageous with colorful. If you'd like some cool colors. We're not
Speaker 3 00:02:39 All pretentious about our rackets like Elliot is though.
Speaker 0 00:02:43 Yeah. That's exactly it. Me. It's not about the, uh, it's all about the book. Same
Speaker 3 00:02:50 Reason you got those, uh, coveralls, right? Right. Yeah.
Speaker 2 00:02:54 It's, it's all about the scale for me, so, oh,
Speaker 0 00:02:56 Okay. I like, I like it. That's awesome. So you went away, you got your diploma at grant MacEwan. Um, why did you register the program that you, uh, decided to? Um,
Speaker 2 00:03:13 I chose child and youth care just because I grew up with a younger sibling, um, and had to help out a lot. Um, and I just like have a Hartford high-risk high-risk youth, youth that don't have, um, the resources that others do. So I wanted to do something to kind of be a light in their life.
Speaker 0 00:03:38 Awesome. So in regards to, that's a few things about the show. I know nothing about that career path whatsoever. Most of the time when people come and sit across from me, I have no idea who they are or what they do or what their plans are in that field. What are the job prospects that you can get into?
Speaker 2 00:03:55 Um, there's a ton. So is, um, like, or you could go a different route and working like group homes, which is what I did for my practicum. Um, you can work in children and women's shelters, there's, there's so many options, um, with that career path. So those are just some of the, some of the choices
Speaker 0 00:04:23 You graduated. You're still looking for a career in that field. Yeah. So for everybody watching at home, if there's anybody that could hook her up with a job could also put the message and we'll follow up with, uh, with yourself for that one mercy. But as of right now, you're employed at the golf course here in Tikrit.
Speaker 2 00:04:42 So what do you do here? Um, so this is my third year working here at the year at the golf course. Um, so I did like back shop my first year and then went into more of like a starter marshal role. And, um, they've given me more of like a managing role this year. Um, this is more benefits right now. I'm just selling shots, but that's not usually what I'm doing.
Speaker 0 00:05:12 Today's a funding. Yeah. So when it comes to tournaments, I have been to a few golf tournaments. What's your favorite part about working a golf tournament? Not participating?
Speaker 2 00:05:21 Um, I really love all the members that we have here. Like I just love to chat with them each and every day. Um, yeah. I just have, uh, built some like really awesome relationships and connections at the golf course. Right. Well, before
Speaker 0 00:05:38 We hit you up with the maximum minute that's Tanner segment, I got to ask you a serious question. Cause you're like myself, you grew up in Fort McMurray, you went to grand Q1, and now you find yourself back and forth. Now you got out and you come back. What is it about Fort McMurray that brought you back? Um,
Speaker 2 00:05:59 It just feels like home. My family is all here, so I really like being close to them. Um, yeah. Yeah, family.
Speaker 0 00:06:09 There we go. All right. Well, we're a part of the show. Now it's called the Mac CD minute counters going to hit you up with questions. I have no idea what he's going to ask you. So that's a lot
Speaker 3 00:06:20 Question. Number one. What was your favorite part of growing up in Fort McMurray? Um,
Speaker 2 00:06:30 I like the fact that I know everyone, it's a, it's a small enough town that you know, everybody, but, um, not small enough to get bored, I would say. So
Speaker 3 00:06:43 Question number two. What is your favorite thing about working at a golf course? Um,
Speaker 2 00:06:52 The members, the relationships you build and the free golf.
Speaker 3 00:06:57 Cool question number three. What is your favorite way to spend time in Fort Mac when you're not working?
Speaker 2 00:07:04 Um, I really like golfing and I like playing spike ball with my friends. Um,
Speaker 3 00:07:13 Yeah. Question number four. If you could golf at one course around the world, where would that be? Why am I going to golf club?
Speaker 0 00:07:22 There you go. Those were her bread is buttered.
Speaker 3 00:07:25 And your final question. What is your favorite thing to get at the Fort McMurray golf course restaurant?
Speaker 2 00:07:32 Um, I really liked the clubhouse wrap and the Caesar salad.
Speaker 3 00:07:37 And those have been your five questions. I had it for
Speaker 0 00:07:39 The first time to date. Delicious. It is delicious. So that second I have no idea what it is.
Speaker 2 00:07:50 Um, it's kind of like a volleyball style game, but the net, there's a net trampoline thing on the ground. And for the third head hit, instead of going over a net, you spike it onto the ground and then the other team has to play it up. It's a lot of fun.
Speaker 0 00:08:07 Yeah. It sounds complicated.
Speaker 2 00:08:11 Requires some skill, but
Speaker 0 00:08:13 Some skill is big and long. It's like, you got to hit it into like a mini trampoline and it sort of comes up so that, uh, have a shot. Is this like a game that is professionally
Speaker 2 00:08:27 Played or is it yeah, no. It's, it's professionally played. If you look it up, it's, it's pretty amazing how good some people are really. I'm
Speaker 0 00:08:36 Going to look this up on YouTube after the show. Okay. Well, that's it painless told you it won't be that bad. So, uh, before we let everybody go, uh, you have a shameless shout out though. That's the part of the show right now. So who do you want to give a shameless shout out to? It could be your employer or something you're doing on the side. Could you tell your mom, your cat, your cat, the cat
Speaker 2 00:09:01 Shameless show? Um, I guess to my mom and there we go
Speaker 0 00:09:09 To the parents. I love it. Okay. Well Buffalo and the rest of the world. That's been another episode of the Mac city morning show. Thank you very much for tuning in. I really do appreciate it. And thanks for the golf course for allowing us to come out here and chill today. It's been a pleasure. Hopefully you're having a great day. We'll see you tomorrow. Thank you. It's another maxi morning show.
Speaker 3 00:09:47 Talk about quenching your ugly thirst.
