Speaker 0 00:00:00 Good morning, Fort McMurry, wood, Buffalo, and the rest of the world. You've tuned into the Mac city morning show. I am your host Elliot Pierre, and we're going to start this off the same way we start every episode off with a moment of gratitude. I know you could be doing a million other things with your time. So the fact that you are spending it with us truly does mean the world to me. So on that note, Tanner hit him with the intro. Speaker 1 00:00:23 Oh, she caught me near listen to the next anymore. Speaker 0 00:00:32 All right. Well, today's going to be an exciting one because I've been following this person online for quite some time, but we've never had the opportunity to have a proper chat. So today we are going to write that wrong. So as you guys all know, I do not introduce my guests because they can do a better job at that than I can. So on that note, can you please introduce yourself and tell everybody who you are? Thank you. Speaker 2 00:00:53 So, first of all, thanks so much for having me. Um, my name is crystal and, uh, I'm a health and wellness coach here in Fort McMurray based online. Of course, Speaker 0 00:01:04 That's awesome. Now, when you say health and wellness, you are linked up with a beach body workouts. Let's talk a little bit about beach body because I back in the day, I'm talking years ago went and I did the P90X program. I bought the DVDs. I did it. And it was a truth. If you do the work, you will look like how they say you will look at the end, but to say, it's work is an understatement. Like you gotta, you gotta put in the time. Yeah. So let's hear it. Like I only know about the P90X component, obviously there's so many other things. Speaker 2 00:01:37 Absolutely. And like you said, all you gotta do is do the work. If you do the work, the results will come. But with beach body, um, we have the online, the online, um, workouts, but we also have meal plans, super foods, supplements that go hand in hand with each and every program that you do, meal plans, specific supplement specific to each and every product. Okay. Speaker 0 00:02:05 Now, how did you get involved in the beach body? Like how did this happen? Like me, I just stumbled across, this is how old I am, everybody out there. I saw the infomercial on television and I kept seeing peanut P90X and I'm like, you know what? And so I ordered the DVDs. So how did you get hooked up with, uh, the beach? Speaker 2 00:02:25 Actually, it's kind of a funny story because my husband, yeah, Jason started doing these online workouts and DVDs at home in 2015. And I just like, kind of looked out of them and kind of wondered, like, what are you doing? Kind of thing. Right, right. But, um, in all seriousness, during the fire, when we got evacuated, all these things kept rushing back to me. And I was like, you know, health is important. Health is important. So Jason and I, once we were evacuated, started going to the gym together. But while we were going to the gym, we were taking our online health and fitness with us. So we knew what to do with the equipment at the gym. Cool. Okay. Yeah. So then, um, it kind of started then, and then I just kept being consistent every single day. And then about a year later I lost 70 pounds and to the stage still have it off. So yeah. And that's been going on five years, Speaker 0 00:03:36 Five years now. Yeah. Your journey has been really interesting to follow because you're like you post a lot of stories and pictures online and have you and the other people that you coach and yeah. It's been a tremendous even for yourself and Jason in regards to like where you guys started to where you are now. Speaker 2 00:03:51 Yeah. Incredible. And, uh, first of all, I just started out doing the workouts at home, but because people were seeing my results, they kept saying, well, what are you doing? What are you doing? And I'm like, you know what? I think I can help people. Right. And one of the biggest things that I take from beach body is the internal transformation. Like the mindset training, the self-love, the, all of the important things that I think comes before the external transformation. Right. Right. So, and that's what really, really stood out to me with, with beach body. Right? So Speaker 0 00:04:29 You become a coach from doing the workouts, just looking at the DVDs, to transitioning, into helping other people. How does that all work? Speaker 2 00:04:35 Well, actually, there's kind of two different ways. You can become a coach and it's also a preferred customer to get a discount on your products. Or you can also become a coach and help coach people into getting the results that you know, that you can help them get. Right. Yeah. Right. Interesting. Very cool. Yeah. So I've been a coach now for about four years and I've actually helped a lot of people and I've earned myself some pretty amazing tropical vacations. Speaker 0 00:05:10 Yeah. That's what I want to talk about next. So yeah. You guys have gone to some really cool places and like, I follow yourself and your husband, Jason, and some of his videos, I've seen his videos of these, uh, getaways conferences, whatever you want to call them. Like, tell me a little bit about these things. Cause like, when I go to conferences back in the day when I had a real job, not this, um, conferences are very, like, you sit down, you listen to guest speaker, you guys are jumping around, working out sweating. Like it's very different from what I think most people would assume a conferences. Speaker 2 00:05:42 Yeah. We go out when we like work out with Sean T and autumn Calla breeze and Tony Horton, like fun, things like that. And again, we have a lot of fun. Yeah. We are a lot around a lot of like-minded people and you can just feel that energy. Like as soon as you go there, you can just feed off it. And you're just eager to learn. And you're just eager to meet people like it like yourself, right. On the same journey as yourself. So that's amazing. Speaker 0 00:06:11 Yeah. So unfortunately, because of COVID though, no more traveling to those. As of right now, Speaker 2 00:06:16 Our trip last year was canceled. We, we actually earned a trip to Dominican. Yeah. And this year it was also canceled and I earned a trip to Mexico. Okay. Speaker 0 00:06:28 Yeah. So they're going to roll over those points. Okay. Good. Bring it to the next one. There we go. I love it. Yeah. Now you got a bit of an accent. You're obviously not from Fort McMurray. Speaker 2 00:06:42 Not where are you from? I'm from Newfoundland. What part of Newfoundland? I'm from a little tiny, tiny dot called Harbor round it's um, on the Beaver peninsula. Okay. So it's kind of like West coast, but a little North, so, okay. Yeah. Speaker 0 00:06:57 I don't know. And have never been there little known fact, not so little known anymore. I talk about it often. I've been to Newfoundland over 20, 25, almost 30 times. I've been to Newfoundland a lot. Yes. I'm dead serious. I used to work for a company called Eveready. Now they're called clean harbors and I used to be a recruiter for them. So I used to have to fly down to the East coast, all of these coasts, primarily Newfoundland though. And I would recruit people to come back and live and work. And for him with Marie, so tons of trips, I'd fly into deer Lake and then stay in Cornerbrook at the Glen mill in my favorite place to stay in Newfoundland. Then I would drive, uh, to Gander or deer or grand falls, 50 50, which one I'd stay in. And then I would end my trip with interviews in St. John's, hang out on George street, do some shopping on water street. And then I would fly back to Fort McMurray. I love, Speaker 2 00:07:55 Yeah. It's pretty awesome. Yeah. Understatement. So, because you know, a little bit of about Newfoundland, I'm kind of in between Cornerbrook and deer Lake. That's right? Yeah. So sorry, not deer Lake, but Gander sauna. Great dab in the middle Speaker 0 00:08:09 Of there. Like just pulled over a little bit. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:08:12 Turn down another dirt road. Speaker 0 00:08:13 There you go. So what brought you to Fort McMurray from the East coast? Speaker 2 00:08:17 Well, actually, um, my parents moved here in 2005. Okay. And I came up for the summer. All right. Then I kind of just fell in love with the summers. And then at the time, my boyfriend at the time, which is Jason, he, uh, we talk one night on the phone. He he's like, you know what? I think you should stay there and I'm going to come up. Oh Speaker 0 00:08:44 Yeah. He's Speaker 2 00:08:46 I actually met him in Newfoundland. Okay. Okay. So then, uh, within a couple of months, he was here too, and we just started a whole new life. Nice. It was Speaker 0 00:08:57 In 2006, 2006 while. So you guys have been here for a real long time, then time flies, time does fly. Yeah. You guys prior to everything going on, get a chance to go back home often. Speaker 3 00:09:10 Um, we do. Yeah, Speaker 2 00:09:15 But because we, a lot of my family's here, Jason, um, his mom and his dad, uh, there's two different marriages, so it's two different families. So sometimes they come up here, it's easier for them to come up here. Then the whole family of four then, um, to go down there. Cause sometimes it could get pricey too. Speaker 0 00:09:36 Yes, that's exactly it. Speaker 2 00:09:39 Well, we love it when we go there and unfortunately we didn't get to go last summer, but hopefully Speaker 0 00:09:45 Yeah. The price point is extremely expensive. Now years ago, check this out. I used to fly down all the time. I went on a vacation one summer. I flew from Fort McMurray. Yeah. I went to Italy from Italy. I went to Ireland from Ireland. I went to England and from England, I flew back to Fort Mac. Yeah. I touched down, went to work the following day. And my boss said, Hey, I know you've been flying, but I hate to do this to you. I need you to go out East. Okay. I'll book a ticket. My ticket from Fort McMurray to the East coast was dramatically more expensive than my plane ticket around the world. That's unbelievable. Crazy. Right. Speaker 2 00:10:22 It's I can't even imagine what it's going to be now when it starts Speaker 0 00:10:25 Off, it's going to be, it's going to be interesting. Yeah. Well, I'm excited to see what planes look like though. Like maybe we all get to like our private pod and that just becomes standard. I hope that'd be amazing. All right. Now when it comes to working out, like I'm a big runner. I love to run and I have my workout regime. The Tanner's where of, and I'm pretty sure everybody home knows it. Now that I do before I start, uh, the shows. Yeah. With your workout. What's your favorite thing to do? Do you like the cardio? Do you like the kickboxing? Do you like, like there's so many different things. You go to gym cardio. Really? Yeah. It's not my favorite thing to do at all. Okay. Speaker 2 00:11:06 Um, I I'd say weightlifting. I love weightlifting. Like aren't a good arm workout. Um, I love bar. I didn't know. I love Burr, but recently we've come out with a bar program and wow. I also love the bar. Speaker 0 00:11:23 I think she's talking about different bar there. Yeah. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:11:28 So, and now that I'm pregnant. Speaker 0 00:11:30 Yeah. Congratulations. By the way, Speaker 2 00:11:32 Still continue to work out and do bark as we have prenatal programs as well. And again, we have a new one, um, the prenatal BARR program. So I've been continuing as much as I can. Yeah. Speaker 0 00:11:44 Yeah. So people say they hate cardio. I don't get it. It's my favorite thing to do in the world is run. Yeah. So, but you can do other different types of cardio, skipping, biking a lot. Like, yeah, actually, Speaker 2 00:11:55 Um, I shouldn't say I, I, I recently discovered that I liked to Bata, to Bata cardio just to Bata is, um, for example, you will give it your all for 20 seconds and then you'll stop for 10 breathe deep. When you say, give it your all, what are we giving her? It could be jump rope. It could be jogging in one place, whatever, like the trainer on our exercises and telling you what to do. Okay. Give it your all for 20 seconds. Stop for 10. So that gives me time to regroup. Right. So then it goes again, it keeps going for probably five or six rounds like that. So that's one I think I can look forward to and get my wind in. Yeah. Speaker 0 00:12:41 It's funny because I think you're like most people, most people between leg day and cardio and it's like, yeah, it's not really my thing, but with me, I just I'm addicted. I love going for a run. Speaker 2 00:12:53 Yeah. And a lot of people say that, um, when they love running, they love the mental aspect. That aspect of it as well. Is that the same for yourself? Speaker 0 00:13:04 And like, my brain's always going a mile a minute. So it's nice to like, just, I w I get tons of grief for this, but I run on a treadmill all the time. I just go on the treadmill, put in my headphones and either listen to a book or listen to some music and just, yeah. I zone out and it's outside of meditation in the morning. It's the only time where it's just like quiet. Yeah. So, yeah. That's why I'm into, and I've been running literally since I was, I think my mom got me into running because she wanted me to burn off some energy when I was like nine years old. So, and I get my kid, like my kid sees me running all the time. So I was like, dad, can I start running too? I'm like, yeah. And on the days that we run around with him, we go to the park and like we do sprint races and stuff. He sleeps better. So, Speaker 2 00:13:50 Oh, that's awesome. That's where it just goes to show how good it is for you. Just run your little heart out little. Yeah. Speaker 0 00:13:56 So on that note, we have come to the show called the Mac city minute. Tanner is going to ask you some questions. This is his segment. Best of luck to you. I don't know what he's going to ask you. So, Speaker 2 00:14:05 Okay. This is going to be interesting. Tanner hit her with some acts. Any minute Speaker 4 00:14:09 Question. Number one. What is your favorite way to stay fit? Speaker 2 00:14:14 My favorite way to stay fit is drink my daily dose of vitamins and minerals. And do my daily workout. Speaker 4 00:14:24 Question number two. What is one food you eat that people wouldn't think is good for them? Speaker 2 00:14:30 Um, jeez. A lot of people think that cheese is bad, but it's not. You just got to know the right amount. Yeah. Speaker 4 00:14:40 Question number three. What is the most important, important part of working out that isn't working out? Speaker 2 00:14:48 Cardio? I like it. Speaker 4 00:14:53 Question number four. What is your go-to cheat day? Fast food order. Speaker 2 00:15:01 Uh, uh, Speaker 4 00:15:06 Just a normal fabric. Speaker 2 00:15:07 She's in bacon. Speaker 4 00:15:10 And your final question. What is your favorite supplement you use in your daily life? Speaker 2 00:15:16 That would have to be my pre-workout. Um, it's a lemonade type drink and it just is all natural, of course. So I can still drink it while I'm pregnant and it gives me my workout. And so, Speaker 4 00:15:31 Yeah, that was the BGR five questions. Speaker 0 00:15:34 There you go. Tanner man. What's the, question's always, I like it. I love it. And then he brought me a little gift. I don't know, town. Are you going to hit me with doc camera? Check it out. Let's tell the people at home with this is, Speaker 2 00:15:46 That is actually, um, one of our supplements. This is a supplement that tastes is like, um, ness quick that you drink after you work out. Okay. And you, you drink it with at a half an hour. So you get the full, full effects. And again, all natural designed by scientists at Harvard and amazing ingredient. Speaker 0 00:16:08 Yeah. I really want to eat it. I'll definitely try it out. I'll try it. Yeah. Listen, I, um, I got sold on this pre-workout stuff years ago. I remember when Gatorade put out this campaign about how they had like the three different levels of Gatorade that you have post pre and during your workout. And I was like, this is nonsense. This is Gatorade. Just trying to make some money. And, uh, one of my buddies just ended up buying and he's like, no, like it works. Try it out. And boy, Oh boy. Did it make a difference? Huge difference. Especially based on the amount that I work out, like the recovery for me to re uh, when I say workout, I just mean run. Yeah. Um, yeah, the recovery for the following day, it makes a dramatic difference. Speaker 2 00:16:55 Yeah. Um, and with this one, the recover you'll notice, like if you did not take it versus taking it, you'd see a total difference in your soreness of your muscles and stuff. Right? Like instant one, one time. You'd seen the difference. Speaker 0 00:17:11 So I'll give it a, it won't stay on set very long. All the other gifts we have stay on set forever. I can assure you this one. Won't. So you've been in Fort McMurray for a really long time. What keeps you guys here? Speaker 2 00:17:23 Oh, well, in 2008, I started my own cleaning company. Okay. Me and my husband, actually, he was just kind of my sidekick there if I needed him. Um, and he kind of started working in real estate as soon as we moved here, property management first. And then, um, yeah, we just kinda went with the cleaning and I kept doing that for years until just about two years ago. And now I just took an evening job, um, working with the Catholic school board. Speaker 0 00:17:57 Okay. What do you do for the Catholic school board? Speaker 2 00:18:00 By the way? Like, that's why I chose to do I still do my side thing is just not as busy as I eat. Speaker 0 00:18:06 Right. So, yeah. That's awesome. Yeah. Well, listen in town or hate cleaning, so maybe you can come and help us out from time to time. We're two typical dudes. There's no doubt about that. We only just got a mirror, hit the mic. Sorry, Tanner. We only just recently got a mirror because so many, um, female guests are like, where's your mirror where like, I need to see what I look like before I get on film. I'm like, that's what your phone afforded? Like, no, the whole outfit, two guys, we're not focused on that point, the phone at them at the mirror. And then you can see the whole thing or you step back and take a picture. You know, there's lots of things were just simple. That's what it comes down to. That's what it comes down to. Yeah. All right. I think that's pretty much it. Speaker 0 00:18:51 Awesome. Thank you so nice and quick 20 minutes flies. It does. It actually really does. Yeah. So I want to thank you for coming on the show. Thank you so much. I appreciate it. Congratulations on the pregnancy. Thank you. That's awesome. And I tell this to every guest and I really do mean it. A few people have taken me up on it. Anytime you want to come back to just hang out with myself for Tanner filming episode, please, please, please feel free to come back or do a workout or do a workout here. I'll do. Yeah, maybe we can get on each other's Instagram and Facebook stories. There we go. I will not be working out no town and the town is not to work. Okay. All right. But before we leave, um, I want you to give one more shout out about who you are, how people get in contact with you, how you can help them out. Speaker 2 00:19:35 Yeah, absolutely. Um, of course I try to be as active as I can here on social media. Uh I'm crystal underscore a F F underscore. That's my handle on Instagram and crystal paddle on Facebook. So yeah. And we're doing some free groups always. Speaker 0 00:19:57 So there we go. All right, well, you got your handles and, um, we'll tag you in those so people can find you a lot easier. Okay. Sweet. All right. On that note, uh, Fort McMurray, wood, Buffalo, and the rest of the world. Thank you for tuning into the Mac city morning show. Definitely appreciate it. Because like I said, I know you could be doing a million other things with your time, so it does warm my heart that you tuned in and spent it with us. So on that note, hopefully you're having a great day and we'll see you tomorrow. Peace. Speaker 1 00:20:24 <inaudible> talk about quenching your ugly thirst.
