Speaker 0 00:00:09 My name is Elliot pier, and you've tuned into the Mac city morning show. Once again, everybody who's watching live. Thank you so much, everybody who's taking the time to watch the prerecorded afterwards. Thank you so much. And there's a lot of you guys watching the mini clips. Once again. Thank you so much. I appreciate everybody that tunes in that digests our content in one way, shape or form. Now, before we get started, Tanner hit them with the intro.
Speaker 1 00:00:40 Welcome to the max any morning show.
Speaker 0 00:00:49 All right. So today's episode is going to be a little bit different. I'm not going to lie. It's a live show. So with live shows, sometimes things go a little bit, uh, not as planned. So our guests today got a little bit confused on when we were filming. So unfortunately he's not going to be able to make it. So Fort McMurray, you're just stuck with me today. I'm not going to keep you for the full 20 minutes. We'll keep the show nice and short today. Um, definitely didn't want to miss just because the guest isn't here though. So the first thing that I want to do today, because I went there yesterday and I definitely got to give them a big shout out is Allie at thick wood barbershop. I don't know if you can tell at home. I know Tanner, we got some new cameras fix up the lighting, so they should be able to tell the difference you look real pretty for sure.
Speaker 0 00:01:35 Thank you, sir. Allie thick with barbershop woke me up yesterday. Helped shave my head again. That's the new look we're going for? I know, uh, some of you are used to me with long hair buzz cut to say the least as usual. He tightened up my beard. So want to talk about thick wood barbershop and Allie. We are going to do it on the show anyways today. Um, in regards to who the guest was, he's a big supporter of the barbershop as well. I just want to give Allie and the boys a big shout out and say, they're doing it right. Um, if you haven't taken the chance to go to thick wood barbershop yet next to the black horse, strongly suggest you do they're following all the COVID rules. It was actually amazing to go there yesterday. And I felt super safe. As soon as I went in, you're not allowed to go in without an appointment.
Speaker 0 00:02:20 First and foremost, nobody waiting in the barber shop. So you need to make an appointment. And when you make your appointment, you need to wait until your appointment time for you to walk into the store. It's like a VIP treatment though. You get to walk in. Nobody's there. That's what I'm saying. Once you go in, you sit down in your little barber chair and they have disposable bibs for you. So you're not even using the same bibs somebody else did. They re they throw them away. You get a fresh new one, all the barbers they're wearing masks. The patrons. When you walk in, you got to wear a mask. Um, even when I was getting my hair shaved yesterday, buzzed had to wear the mask. So everybody in there is masked. There's nobody waiting. So if you do need an appointment, what you need to do is you need to either get on the app and book your appointment, or you can call in and then they'll put it in the app for you and for anybody who's walking in.
Speaker 0 00:03:12 Once again, you're not allowed to walk in and wait. However, you can walk in. They got their phones ready. They'll book you and schedule your appointment for later on. So big shout out to thick wood barbershop for hooking me up yesterday and always hooking me up, making me look nice and pretty they're doing it right. I know a lot of businesses have had to open and shut their one that has definitely had an open and shut down a few times this year, but they're back open thick wood barbershop next to the black horse alley, all the boys, his brother. Thank you so much for such a great service. Thank you so much for keeping me safe yesterday and all the patrons, keeping us safe when we go into the barber shop. So for all the fellows out there, or some of the ladies like to get fades, you know, there's some, every once in a while, they could barbershop next to the black horse in thick wood. I've been going there for years. They're doing it right. They're keeping it safe. This is not a sponsored ad, by the way, I just love Allie and the boys. So Allie, the good barbershop, the boys, that's where you need to go. Other than that, I don't know what to say for shout outs.
Speaker 2 00:04:15 Maybe, maybe I got a question for you today. Maybe you want to talk about, uh, your favorite McDonald's order. Oh,
Speaker 0 00:04:21 My favorite McDonald's order. Now this is something that it's a good question to enter
Speaker 2 00:04:26 You. Uh, you talk about a lot around the office here, so I thought you might want to tell the people
Speaker 0 00:04:30 I do. Now, the thing about me for people who are watching, I run a lot and the reason I have to run so much is, uh, I like to eat fast food or just good food in general. So it's a balance. I figure with the amount of working out I do and the amount of running I put in, uh, I can afford myself a McDonald's meal every once in a while. And so I love, and you'll find as you watch the show, I like to see what people's McDonald's order is. My McDonald's order is the following. I get 10 nuggets, sweet and sour sauce, large fries, and a double cheeseburger made like a Mac. Now a few years ago, I stopped drinking pop. And, uh, but this is the weird thing. And this is the weird part about the order is I still love to chew on the ice, but I like it to have that like pop taste,
Speaker 2 00:05:22 You know, the fountain soda tastes it.
Speaker 0 00:05:24 So I get them to fill up and this is ridiculous, a medium cup full of ice and tell them just to fill it up with half Coke so that all the ice can tastes like the Coke. And then, uh, when I get home, I actually dumped the Coke and I just like drink my water out of my Mac city mug. And, uh, I chew on the Coke dice so that it's, that's my weird McDonald's order. But every time never fails. That's what I'm getting.
Speaker 2 00:05:53 Hi. I don't know you, uh, you work out like every morning here. And so I would've never guessed. That's all the food you could put.
Speaker 0 00:06:00 Yeah, yeah, yeah. McDonald's, that's my go-to order. I like, I like all the fast food chains, but you know, McDonald's from a kid they've done a good job at branding and marketing that they, they got me hooked from a young age when
Speaker 2 00:06:11 We got to save some of the other fast food orders for guests
Speaker 0 00:06:13 When they come in. That's it. So, uh, for all the guests, future guests looking definitely food is going to be a topic. But, uh, as far as the chain restaurant, I'm a burger connoisseur. I love burgers, but, uh, McDonald's as far as fast, food is up there. Uh, so where's the best burger. Then it down my house straight up, I make a banging burger. I'm not a great cook in general, but yeah, as far as a burger's best burger in town, Elliot, Pierre, if you have the honor of having me cook you a burger, I can assure you that, uh, it is the best. Now, as far as a restaurant is concerned, this might make some people upset. Cause I eat burgers everywhere. But if I'm being honest, I'm all about honesty. Best burger in Fort McMurray, pound for pound in regards to consistency. It's good. Almost not almost every time I've had it. A great burger is a Earl's Earl's in my opinion, as far as Fort McMurray is concerned, best burger.
Speaker 2 00:07:21 Oh no, I, it depends what kind of burger you're going for, because if you, if you want something greasy and fast or if you want like a nice sit-down burger
Speaker 0 00:07:28 And that's, that's the difference, right? You got your fast food burgers and you've got your, uh, you've got your restaurant quality burgers. So what about yourself? My man. Where are you in your burgers at?
Speaker 2 00:07:38 If we're going fast food, I'm an a and w diehard like, and w it's it costs me half of my month's wage to get one meal, but it is the best. I feel like, like they're the only fast food place that has real, real meat. Like you can taste that it's like cooked right there, but if we're going like fancy restaurant, I'd probably say Boston pizza would be, would be my favorite place to get a burger because they just do it's more artisinal you know, like it's not just like a bun in a burger. They do lots of stuff and styles and stuff.
Speaker 0 00:08:13 Yeah. Boss pizza has a good burger. They have that one burger that makes your heart stop. The pizza burger. Don't know if you've ever tried that out. I have definitely had that. Yes. For anybody at home, it's it's worth a bite or two, but, uh, you will be going in a coma afterwards. There's no doubt.
Speaker 2 00:08:26 Yeah. My family has heart history problems and, and so we, we stay away from things like that. But, uh, you smell it. And my, my dad might have a heart attack, so
Speaker 0 00:08:35 Yeah. So as far as the AEW man, just food for thought, they dropped coupons in the mail a lot. And if you don't already have the app, the app throws out some, some good deals every once in a while.
Speaker 2 00:08:45 We definitely use those coupons. Those coupons get us to go to a lot of places that we don't normally go because I love a good deal. Yeah. Who doesn't love a good deal. Everybody wants to get you out.
Speaker 0 00:08:56 So yeah, for all those people at home who don't know that about me. Yeah. You see me running a lot. And like my exercise regime in the morning is, uh, pretty interesting. Um, but it's because when I eat and I don't always eat like that, but I do it more often than I probably should. Um, when I feel like eating, I just eat. And so, yeah. McDonald's and w burger King Wendy's I had
Speaker 2 00:09:19 To delete, skip the dishes off of my phone. It was ruined
Speaker 0 00:09:21 My life. Honestly, you know what? I'm not a, uh, I'm not a big supporter of skip the dishes. Not like I, I love their service. I love the thought process that goes behind it. Um, my thing, when it comes to food, it has to be hot and not to say, skip the dishes. Doesn't always drop it off hot. I've only utilized their service, maybe two or three times. It's just like, I'm really picky about that. So I'm more of a go into the restaurant and during COVID it's like, okay, where are we going? And how am I timing that to get home? So that food is nice and warm. Um, so big shout out to two organizations in town that I do get food from who? I don't know how you guys do it, but you nail it every time. One is we got to go back to Earl's. They have definitely figured out how to get food to your house. Warm second, big shout out. Cause I think I get food from this establishment more than anybody else in town. EVB,
Speaker 2 00:10:31 EVP has some good food. EAP
Speaker 0 00:10:34 Has some amazing food. My favorite hands down, EVP, if he hadn't had it yet is their spinach dip. It is to die for.
Speaker 2 00:10:44 They have this Mac and cheese here there that they don't always have. But when they do, I can eat a ridiculous.
Speaker 0 00:10:53 I have never tried. I didn't know they had that on the menu.
Speaker 2 00:10:56 Sometimes they do. Sometimes they don't. I had it at Fort McMurray, empty bowls a few years back for the first time. And I was like, this is, this is some good Mac and cheese. And I went up there and they were like, yeah, we don't actually make it anymore. And then I was like, what? Yeah. And then one day I was there a couple of years later, you know, drinking. And I looked on the menu in it and they had Mac and cheese and I was like, yeah, giving you three bowls of that. Right.
Speaker 0 00:11:18 Well, put that in your notes. Uh, cause Mike from EVP will be showing up here on Monday. Oh, so he's a guest on Monday. So we're going to be asking you Mike, all about this Mac and cheese. Why haven't I ever tried this? Because I've almost had everything on the menu. One little gem of EDB, EVP that not a lot of people know about. Well, not enough people know about it as I should say. Is there brunch? Did you ever, have you ever went there for brunch?
Speaker 2 00:11:44 I have not, but I've heard their brunch. Brunches. Phenomenal. Yeah.
Speaker 0 00:11:47 It's banging. It's a banging brunch. So hopefully VP can open up like all the bars and restaurants soon. Cause I like hanging out there in the evenings, but in the mornings they're brunch.
Speaker 3 00:11:58 Yeah. No, the only time I was ever there in the morning was on my 18th birthday and, and food was not my first thought then.
Speaker 0 00:12:04 Yeah. Fair enough. Fair enough. So listen, everybody watching we've we've shouted out a few businesses here in town. Yeah.
Speaker 3 00:12:12 None of them, none of them asking us to these are all just the businesses we enjoy. Yeah.
Speaker 0 00:12:17 These are the businesses we enjoy. However, I think me and Tanner do a frequent these establishments quite often. Yeah.
Speaker 3 00:12:23 Yes. We are definitely big supporters of the businesses. We've just mentioned.
Speaker 0 00:12:27 I'm just saying if you're one of the businesses that we ordered and you want to throw us, um, uh, some food or some swag or whatnot by all means, listen, I'm never going to say no to delicious food or a solid, a haircut and a beard trimming. So I don't
Speaker 3 00:12:43 Know if NW can trim my beard. No,
Speaker 0 00:12:45 No. They're all about the food. Yeah. So other than that, Fort McMurray, it's a quicker episode today. Thank you for tuning in, like I said, it's one of the downsides to having the live show. Sometimes things don't work out, but our guests will be here. We're not going to say who it is. I don't want to put them on blast because it was a miscommunication on both ends, but it is what it is. Hope you're having a great day. Once again. Thank you for tuning in to the Mac city morning show. Thank you to all the guests that have showed up over the last two weeks. Thanks for all the guests that have been booked. We are fully booked until the end of February now. So we have tons of people coming in tons of interest. And for everybody watching right now and watching later on the bottom of my heart, thank you very much. I really do appreciate it. Um, I'm excited to do this show. I'm excited that you guys are watching and I'm really excited that we're able to like showcase local individuals in Fort McMurray, share some positive vibes, have some good conversations and just inform everybody out there of what's going on in our awesome community. So other than that, this is Elliot Pierre, the man, the voice behind the camera. That's Tanner. We want to thank you very much for tuning in today and we'll see you tomorrow. Peace.
Speaker 1 00:14:00 <inaudible> talk about quenching your ugly thirst.
