Speaker 0 00:00:02 Hi, I'm Cindy <inaudible> executive director for the Northern lights, health foundation, and what a great opportunity I've got today. I am the guest host of the max city morning show. We usually start this show as what I've watched with Elliot and all his wonderful guests with a moment of gratitude. And this past week we've celebrated national nurses week. So I'd like to take a moment and have some gratitude for our local nurses. That's awesome. Now, Tanner, do you think we could, you could hit them with the intro? Speaker 1 00:00:33 Oh, she caught me, loves near listen to the next anymore. Speaker 0 00:00:43 So my guest today is the person that I've had a chance to meet early in February. I think it was when we first had our, our, uh, opportunity to meet at the hospital and I'm going to let him introduce himself because he is a man of many words and he can tell his own story. Speaker 2 00:00:59 Hi, I'm holding. And I have a Facebook page called Euro golden. I drop off toys for the hospital when they're there and they're feeling sad. And so there is something to do. Speaker 0 00:01:17 That's right. So the first time that Holden and I met got a phone call and he said, um, so I've been doing some fundraising and a mom and I, and my sister, we went out and we've done some shopping. Do you mind if I bring some toys over to the hospital? Great. And then you showed up and you showed me your sticker, and you talked a little bit about what your project was that you'd been doing. And I was amazed because there was bags and bags of toys and it was, it was awesome. And it wasn't just toys for little kids. It was thoughtful. You had games and puzzles and you'd gift cards, so that a range of patients could be, um, having some, some leisure time and be able to relax. So tell us what got you started with heroic. Speaker 2 00:02:08 There's this movie called Marvel hero project. Um, and one of them was, he wrote with Brayden and he lost his hearing when he was a little baby and he got earbuds and he wanted to give like hearing aids to people that didn't have hearing. And so it was like, Hmm, maybe I should do something like that. And then some, and then when I went to bed, something popped up. Speaker 0 00:02:51 I don't want to do this. I'm going to do this. And then you thought, how am I going to do this? What were your thoughts about how I'm going to do this? Um, Speaker 2 00:03:01 And then a few feet the next day we, well, my mom saw that peop like that somebody was making brittle Speaker 0 00:03:14 And that's this one over here you're looking at. Right. So you had a couple of choices of brittle and you did, what, how did you do this? I don't understand. Tell me what happened with the story. You had some great products and you put them on the, on your Facebook, right? Yeah. Okay. So, I mean, I'm just tempted right now to eat this. I'm sure everybody was buying lots of it, right? Yeah. So they ordered off your website and which was your story for your Facebook page? Yeah. Hero called him. And then you guys started filling orders and then you did, but you did more than that. I know you did. Cause you were out and you were telling people all about it and you were creating an audience of people who are engaged with you because they wanted to help the kids. Yeah. So tell me about that. Speaker 2 00:04:06 So yeah, I already know that I have a Facebook page and stuff like that. Um, but we're not only selling brittle. Like every time we drop off toys and stuff, we change like what we sell. And after the brutal war, we sold cake like mini cakes and we're still figuring out what we're going to do next. Speaker 0 00:04:39 All right. Uh, and that was the first time when we, when we met and then I got a call again. And you said you've been working with Mo from prestige jewelers and you had another whole new idea. So tell me about it. Tell our audience about that. Speaker 2 00:05:00 Well, it was the day on my birthday, which was surprising, um, Speaker 0 00:05:07 Happy birthday belated. So, Speaker 2 00:05:09 Um, we got, my mom got a call and was like, want to donate jewelry to your sons. Uh, what's it called again, like an auction. I think it was yeah. To do an auction. And then later that day we went and he was like, I want to give you $6,000 in jewelry auction. Speaker 0 00:05:39 Yeah. And that Mo so Mr. Tara ban, he's been a great sponsor of the health foundation and has donated over the years, many bits of pieces of jewelry, including some stunning diamond rings that he's auctioned off at our spring fling events and our festival of trees. And of course, we're not doing those things right now. So for him to come and just say, Hey, hold on, I see you. I want to help you. And then you in turn are going to help the health foundation. That's just either, I think it's just an amazing relationship. Speaker 2 00:06:15 Yeah. It really Speaker 0 00:06:16 Is. It really is. Yeah. So you put this on your Facebook page and I saw it and I was watching everybody looking at jewelry going and the prices were going up, going up. So you're pretty pleased with how the auction turned out. Yeah. Yeah. What'd you, what did you raise overall? Speaker 2 00:06:34 Um, I think it was $3,000. Speaker 0 00:06:39 Wow. And that's a 3000 that you're donating back again to the health foundation. Yes, that's true. That's just so fantastic. This story just keeps getting better and better and better. And what do you think you're doing next? Speaker 2 00:06:58 Um, Speaker 0 00:07:00 Maybe I'm putting you on the spot with that. Speaker 2 00:07:03 I was thinking maybe I'm made, like I make my own stuff to sell. That's a cool idea. Speaker 0 00:07:12 All right. Well, we'll watch for that. Um, I was going to tell the audience just a little bit about what we talked about, where this $3,000 might go. That'd be all right. All right. So one of the projects we're working on with the health foundation right now is, uh, on the second floor of the hospital, there is a, uh, quite a large pediatrics room that the pediatric nurses and medical staff have asked if they could turn that into a, uh, pediatric sensory mental health room. And that is going to help all the kids that are coming in to the, uh, into the pediatrics unit that needs some help with self-regulation and, uh, the ability to, to, um, manage their emotions as they're going forward and understanding what their mental health journey might be. Uh, so we're really happy to support that project. It's a very large project and this is going to help us quite a bit to get going on it. I see that the guys have brought out our check. Do you want to hold our check for just a second? And we do that. All right, we're going to get up very carefully with our mix. Speaker 1 00:08:26 Do you want him to take a picture for me? We're really pleased with this because it just tells you that you're keeping it, paying it forward. Speaker 0 00:08:46 So when we see a check like that, it tells me that you're paying it forward and it's monies that you've earned that you've, um, you know, gotten a whole audience of people around and it's going back directly into a project that, you know, has been brought forward from our medical staff and how they want to help the, uh, help the kids in our region. So I'm gonna just, um, turn this over to Tanner for a minute. Cause he does a little segment called Mac city minute. Do you think that'd be all right? Yeah. All right, here we go. 10 up to you. Speaker 3 00:09:22 Question number one for you today. What is better Marvel or DC? Marvel question number two. Who is your favorite superhero question number three. What is your favorite treat to eat? And question number four. What is one way you like to help people outside your charity? Speaker 2 00:09:48 Uh, when somebody falls down, like to help him up. Speaker 3 00:09:53 Good answer. Those have been your questions. Speaker 0 00:09:56 All right. Oh, one last thing we want to talk about is you are recently a patient at the hospital. I mean, you didn't have to stay overnight or anything, but tell us what happened the other day. Speaker 2 00:10:08 So I was at school on a Tuesday. We were out for a run on a rock pavement and I fell. And then there was a little rock, like a little pebble in like it got stuck or something. And I went to the office, they cleaned it out. And then after a few, like now we're after shopper. My mom was like, okay, this looks bad. We have, we're going to go the hospital. So we did. And then we were there until 1230. And when we actually got in, they froze my knee. So, and then they got like this little knife and dug all the dirt out. And then two 30 in the morning I woke up, my knee was just sore. It was just gone hectic. Speaker 0 00:11:25 One hectic. You need going hectic. Did you survive? I think you've survived. You still got your leg. Awesome. So you had really good service anyway. Well, there you go. See, anybody can be patient at the hospital. And I think that's one of the stories we try to tell all the time at the health foundation is, uh, today it's this friend and tomorrow it's you and you don't know what it's going to be, but, uh, everyone in this community at some point needs our hospital, uh, hold. And I can't thank you enough for the support you've given to us over this past few months. We hope that this continues and I hope to see you again, another big check and we can keep this going. Thank you. Thanks for being a guest and thanks to the Mex city morning show for letting me host today. That was awesome. Thank you. Speaker 1 00:12:21 <inaudible> talk about quenching your ugly thirst.
