Speaker 0 00:00:00 Good morning, Fort McMurray, wood Buffalo on the rest of the world. You've tuned in to the max city morning show. I am your host, Elliot Pierre, and we're going to start the show off the same way we start every show off with a moment of gratitude. I know you can be doing a million other things with your time. And the fact that you spent with us truly does mean the world to me. So thank you on that note, Tanner hit it with the intro.
Speaker 0 00:00:30 All right. We are back now. As you guys know, I don't introduce my guests. I let them do that themselves. And as you know, I'm not on the set I'm at rib Fest. So big shout out to Dennis, the volunteers and all the sponsors. But on that note, sir, can you please tell everybody who you are?
Speaker 2 00:00:45 Uh, Chris rock manager of Emco, waterworks back again, getting a chance to vibe with my man. Here you talk about the greatness that, uh, Dennis and brand connect brought to the city this weekend.
Speaker 0 00:00:54 Yeah, this has been amazing. This is day three that we've been here now.
Speaker 2 00:00:57 Day three. Uh, tonight is eighties night. It's probably going to have, are probably all been here. So tonight's eighties night, uh, honeymoon suite coming out last night was a Gord Bamford, big country night. And what a turnout. Thank you for Macquarie. Take it out and make it a great,
Speaker 0 00:01:13 Yeah, I gotta, I got to ask you a question and I know I'm going to get a lot of hate about this. I don't know who this band is. What is it like a cover band? Or like, where are they a band backing the day? Like,
Speaker 2 00:01:23 I'm going to get some heat for this too. I don't actually know. Okay,
Speaker 0 00:01:26 Good. Leave the recover
Speaker 2 00:01:27 Band. Um, I believe they're a well-known cover band, right? It was a great job. Yeah. And they really bring that 80 steam out. And uh, it's why we're doing a big eighties. Okay.
Speaker 0 00:01:37 And no offense to them. I just listened like I'm nineties hip hop. And so if you don't fall under that genre, I had to, I was lucky enough to introduce them to the country acts yesterday. Yeah. Had no idea who they were.
Speaker 2 00:01:50 We were still here and bringing relevance to the community.
Speaker 0 00:01:53 Yeah. It was. All of them were so nice though. And yeah, because I don't know who they are. It was just like a conversation just like this. So the best part. So now you've been busting your, you know what, over the weekend. So tell everybody at home what you basically been up to, what you've been doing. You're a Jack of all trades volunteer master.
Speaker 2 00:02:13 So, uh, Dennis gave the opportunity for Emco waterworks to be a sponsor and help bring this event to the city. And I foolishly said, I'll give you the entire weekend to help. Yeah. It's a selfless weekend. Get back to the city, get back to the community. So if it's taking trash out, taking recycling, help, move tables, tents, carry beer, carry, pop, water, go run coffee, errands, anything to make everybody here and have the best experience possible.
Speaker 0 00:02:43 You've been everywhere, doing everything. I've never seen somebody move around so much. So hopefully you can enjoy tonight and take a little bit of
Speaker 2 00:02:51 A breather. Tonight is my night to let my hair down.
Speaker 0 00:02:54 I'm gonna let my hair down tonight too. I'm not gonna lie. Although last night was fun. Great time. But we
Speaker 2 00:02:59 Had a great body
Speaker 0 00:03:02 So you've been talking to a lot of people. Yes. Even mingling with all the work you've been doing. Yep. Let's just talk about it. So open and honest, there's an election coming up. What are you hearing? What are you hearing?
Speaker 2 00:03:14 What I'm, I'm hearing great things about all the candidates. We have a lot of council members out this weekend as well. They're doing their they're campaigning, getting shaking hands, kissing babies. Yeah. I think we're going to have a tight, tight race for a mayor, but the key thing is just get out and vote, follow who's doing what, what is your interest in the city? What do you want from Fort McMurray and go talk to our candidates and find out what they can do for you and what the city is going to get from them. That's my advice.
Speaker 0 00:03:41 I'm kind of shocked in regards to, I don't, I don't remember the last time there was a race for mayor in regards to the last few, like when you had Don Scott, Melissa Blake, Doug Faulkner, um, all of those, like they kind of just, they were the candidates. They had people who ran, but they were the favorites. This is the first time in my life that I can remember such a tight race.
Speaker 2 00:04:06 Uh, the last mayor race was before my time in Fort McMurray, as we've talked before. Um, but I paid attention. I love politics, municipal, provincial, federal American. Yeah. Love it. But to really focus on what each candidate is bringing this year. Yeah. We've got a great opportunity to get somebody that's really going to step out for the city and not just the city of Fort McMurray, but all of our MWB like too many people forget about Anzac, Conklin, uh, the first nations groups and all the surrounding areas. And I think that's a big thing too. I mean, Fort chip is such a big, valuable asset to Fort McMurray and our MWB and I think it gets forgotten a lot. Yeah. And that's the biggest thing too. Is our candidates focusing on the Metro or are we going to talk about all of our MWP that's right. And that's, that's what needs to be brought.
Speaker 0 00:04:53 Yeah, no, I've loved it. Cause they've all come on the show. And I normally, I like the average human being. Doesn't get a chance to like sit down and talk to them and all of the different candidates that come on the show running for council. I'm excited.
Speaker 2 00:05:06 I think it's going to be a good race and again, get out and vote and pay attention. Don't vote on feelings
Speaker 0 00:05:11 On facts. Now I'm excited about just cut you off. Sorry. I thought you were all good. You may even not thought, think that I remembered this, but you came up with a concept yesterday for a show. Absolutely. And I remember what it was. Yeah. And I went home this morning and I started like YouTube and some stuff and like, thinking about it. I like you. I'm going to do it. We're going to do it. Yup. So tell everybody at home what the concept of your show is.
Speaker 2 00:05:37 So I'm terrible with remembering the name. Do you remember Winston Churchill, Winston Churchill. So at Churchill breakfast, a Winston Churchill, I'll let, y'all do some research, but the idea was that he'd have this big breakfast and he was a late starter, but he was up at seven 30 and he would finish his breakfast with a big beautiful scotch and a cigar and get that Hetty buzz going and then carry a boat is day, but start on mat note and it makes you wonder, did he slow his mind down enough to really become as great as he was. Right. And I've been wanting to do it for a while. It all started with Bert freshing or listened to him. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And I loved the idea of laying in bed. I have a chair in my bedroom. Okay. And that's where I would do it, you know, have a little TV tray next to me and really enjoy the idea of a scotch and cigar first thing in the morning and just go, so I've,
Speaker 0 00:06:26 I've never heard about this before. Yeah. And uh, yeah, I did my research today and we're going to do it. So breaking it here, this is coming up. I don't know when we're going to do it, but it's going to happen on the Mac city morning show.
Speaker 2 00:06:38 I think, uh, I think that'd be a great off spin and not a, uh, a daily or a weekly like you do, but that one off where it's a special occasion and just, I mean, I've never done one. I look forward to doing one. The thing I'm worried about is if I do it in my bed, I got to wash all my bedding. All right. And I'm a guy. Yeah. I don't like doing laundry. I'm sure you don't. And I mean, the minute you got to put that debate cover on, I don't know if you have a technique to put it on.
Speaker 0 00:07:04 No, I see it's called struggle. The struggle is real. That's what it's called struggling. It is. So I'll have to talk about locations on where we're going to do this. Absolutely. Yeah. It's going to be fun though. Oh, maybe we could get a hotel in town to like sponsor it and like get us to come in and like have them deal with that
Speaker 2 00:07:23 One room. Maybe a little extra cleaning fee. That's right. And maybe upcoming guests could help donate and somehow work it in as an opportunity to market their business.
Speaker 0 00:07:32 We do that. We're here. There's enough sponsors. It's an idea. Right?
Speaker 2 00:07:36 And it's again, we're all part of the community
Speaker 0 00:07:38 Network. Just so you guys know, we're just spitballing ideas here. This was not discussed yesterday.
Speaker 2 00:07:43 Good idea though. Right? So say you're a local business and you want to launch an advertising campaign for your next season or your next big push in your market space. And maybe the cleaning fee they say will be $250. I don't know. Maybe a hotel out there wants to donate an opportunity or somebody who's got a vacant property. That's willing to put up a room.
Speaker 0 00:08:02 I like this. I like this here. We're doing it. All right. My dude, we got other people who want to sit down. I know you got to do some more work or you got to finish that work so we can party tonight. Absolutely sights, the nameless, shout out shameless plug at the end.
Speaker 2 00:08:17 Um, I'm going to give a shameless plug to every single sponsor at rip Fest this weekend. Uh, all the people that came down and brought their kids, uh, family from out of town and just came and helped the community have events like this. It's it's, it's what brings the city together. It's the people. It's people like myself like Elliot, bitter. We just want to give back. So everybody else that works hard has an opportunity to appreciate the city and all that. It is. So thank you for Macquarie.
Speaker 0 00:08:43 There you go. Well for Ms. Marie Wood, Buffalo on the rest of the world. Thank you for tuning in as per usual, I really do appreciate a Tanner, man. I miss you. I need you. You gotta come back from, hopefully everybody's having a great day and we'll see you tomorrow.
Speaker 3 00:08:59 Y Dalio Wade and another morning show later by us.
Speaker 1 00:09:08 You talk about quenching your ugly thirsty.
