Speaker 0 00:00:00 Good morning, Fort McMurray, wood, Buffalo, and the rest of the world. You've tuned into the Mac CD morning show. I am your host Elliot Pierre, and we're going to start the show off the same way we start every episode off with a moment of gratitude. I know you could be doing a million other things with your time. So the fact that you spend it with us truly does mean the world to me. So thank you on that note, Tanner hit him with the intro. Speaker 2 00:00:20 Oh, she caught me loves you're listening to the next city morning show. Speaker 0 00:00:29 All right. And we're back. These are honestly my favorite shows. Uh, I'll just put it out there. I liked meeting strangers. Um, I like hearing new stories, but my favorite episodes and I want to start doing more of them are just me and Tanner talking. So you've tuned into the Tanner and Elliot Mac Sydney morning show. He's my guest today. How you doing my man? Speaker 3 00:00:50 Good. You just love to butter me up on these shows. Speaker 0 00:00:53 That might be some of it as well. Speaker 3 00:00:54 I feel like I feel like every guest when you come in and you're like, you're my favorite part of the process? Part of the script, I guess Speaker 0 00:01:01 You're just, uh, you are the most reoccurring guest, I guess. Speaker 3 00:01:05 Uh, yeah. And also probably no, it was going to say, and probably the least vocalized guest. Yeah, Speaker 0 00:01:12 Yeah, no doubt. No doubt. Uh, we've done what only three maybe of these four top. Speaker 3 00:01:18 Yeah, this is four or five that we're doing now. Speaker 0 00:01:20 There are guests that actually have been on the show more than you. Speaker 3 00:01:25 I wouldn't say that I've been on almost all, almost all of them. I don't talk on the on locations. Speaker 0 00:01:33 Great. So one of the main reasons we want to do this day, cause we're pretty excited about this. Everybody at home is, uh, we got some sponsors for the show, which is really cool. So, um, as of right now, this whole thing has just been funded by, um, my marketing company, Greenlight creative. And uh, after a year there's been some interest in actually like sponsoring the show and Hey, listen, I want to keep this going as long as possible. So if there's some companies I want to help us support it, I'm all for that. So if you're watching this and you're a company and you want to get some advertisements on the Mac city morning show, by all means, get in contact with us. We can hook it up, but Speaker 3 00:02:10 You can come on for an episode just to see it before you even do anything, come filming episode and see what you're paying for. Speaker 0 00:02:17 That's right. So, but uh, we have one company that has been a real big supporter of mine from the get-go from the inception of Greenlight. Creative actually helped me create and think about this idea, which is the Mac city morning show Speaker 3 00:02:31 And surprise. It's not Allie and the boys from thick wood barber shop next to the black horse pub. Speaker 0 00:02:36 Sure. Right. That is a shocker, but it's a Keith Simpson and all the boys down at neural Toyota. So him and fad and Nehmer, they've been a huge support of myself and this project, which is the Mac city morning show. So, um, big shout out to them, big shout out to Keith for wanting to jump on for the title sponsorship for the next little while. So, um, on that note, we got a little ad for neurol Toyota that, uh, we're going to be throwing in episode. So, uh, Tanner hit title sponsor police, Speaker 4 00:03:07 Everybody he sends in here from there, Alta, uh, just a quick chat about, uh, the wonderful community we live in here. As you guys know, we support the El parents. We've joined the drive-in movie theater. We're involved in the marathon here in Fort McMurray and make sure we're taking care of the kids and all the local businesses, all the local charities and all the local foundations guys. That's what makes this community such an amazing place to live. Speaker 0 00:03:31 All right. And we're back. Okay. So that was, uh, the title sponsor of the Mac city morning show, uh, Norelle Toyota. I think Keith's face showed up there a lot. They're a great local a company in town they've been here forever. I know I've bought all my cars from them. They treat me well when I go in for servicing. So if you're looking for a vehicle of any sort or you want to hang out and just talk to the guys, head down to Norelle Toyota, Speaker 3 00:03:56 I always got lots of interesting vehicles. Like when you drive by going across the bridge, you always see a bunch of interesting video of vehicles parked against the fence. Like they have like old classic cars. I didn't know. They sold Speaker 0 00:04:08 Good location. Yeah. There's no doubt about that. So anyways, big shout out. Thank you, Keith fad number really appreciate the support and thank you for helping this project, which is the max anymore show, uh, continue hopefully for many, many years. But like I said, at the top of it, if you're a company and you would like to help sponsor, help this dream of mine, keep going, promote our community, get in contact with us. We'd love you as a sponsor as well. Speaker 3 00:04:30 Hope pay my check. Speaker 0 00:04:32 Yeah. He'll pay chant. Tanner's check. He's an expensive asset. Speaker 3 00:04:35 I am. I'm worth it though. Speaker 0 00:04:36 Oh, hands down. So somebody else we need to give a little bit of shine to is like last week or not last week, the week before it was poutine week. Yeah. So we went and we ate some poutine for the big brothers. Big sisters. Speaker 3 00:04:49 Yeah. We did the alley and original Joe's. Speaker 0 00:04:53 Yeah. And I got some, um, uh, some, some critiques on my critique. I really didn't say anything in regards to the Hey it's poutine is gravy. I really didn't give it a, a good critique, I guess, which legit I didn't. Speaker 3 00:05:09 This is where you got to come to get the full scoop though. It's just the taste or you come to the Mac city show for full description. Speaker 0 00:05:17 All right. So now we're going to talk about it. So let's talk about the original Joe's poutine. Speaker 3 00:05:22 Yeah. I, uh, uh, uh, once again, that I believe that is the best poutine within the city of Fort McMurray. Speaker 0 00:05:28 That's right in the city limits of Fort McMurray. Now the best poutine hands down is Vista rich. Yes. Not up for discussion, Speaker 3 00:05:37 But it's not necessarily worth the, you know, 40 minute, one way you drive just For the poutine. Right? So if you're staying in town, but if you're already going to the ski hill, you get the poutine at the ski hill, nothing else. But if you're already in town, you don't want to make that drive original Joe's poutine. For sure. Speaker 0 00:05:58 And from the poutines that I've had so far, I'll get on board with that easily. Now this is why I think it's the best poutine within city limits their fries. They keep the skin on the fries, which I thought was a great technique because it didn't make the fry soggy in the gravy. So you can like, you don't have to like Wolf it down as fast. Speaker 3 00:06:21 No. And their gravy is phenomenal. Speaker 0 00:06:23 We'll get to the gravy. But yes, by the way, original Joe's is not a sponsor. As of yet wink, wink, nudge, nudge. Think about it. Speaker 3 00:06:30 If anything, I am more a sponsor of original jokes. Speaker 0 00:06:33 They are Speaker 3 00:06:34 Nobody's paid. Yeah. Speaker 0 00:06:36 But the great, the fries and the skin on top really good for making those fries crispy longer, not soggy. And I felt it hung onto the salt a lot better as well. So you get really salty fries. Yeah. Speaker 3 00:06:47 Yeah. And the D and the cheese wasn't too chewy, but with still in the curd forum Speaker 0 00:06:53 That's right. I really liked that, but I want to talk about the grave you are right there. Gravy is phenomenal. Speaker 3 00:07:00 I don't know what it is. I don't know. I would want to say a beef gravy, but like it is rich and it is creamy and it is savory. It's fantastic. It is what makes that poutine the best. Speaker 0 00:07:12 So hands down, I think it's because of the fries and the gravy that they're taking. Number one, billing. Speaker 3 00:07:17 Yeah. I would agree. Speaker 0 00:07:19 Now, next we went to the alley. Now. I've never went to the alley for poutine before, or really any food other from like pizza bowling. They had a good poutine. Speaker 3 00:07:27 Yes. Good. And, uh, I think it was the poutine matched the, the environment of the, uh, Allie very well. Yeah. Like, like it was very Alli food, arcade food. Like it matched the theme very well. Speaker 0 00:07:41 That's right now what they did differently, which some people are not going to like this. So I applaud you Allie for going out on a limb with trying something new with poutine, but still keeping it original. That's what I liked. It was original. Speaker 3 00:07:54 I would still call it a poutine Speaker 0 00:07:56 A hundred percent. Yeah. Was they great? Their cheese Shredded that's right now, what that does is it gets like it's really gets cheesy and gooey. So it's messy. Speaker 3 00:08:08 Yeah. It's Speaker 0 00:08:09 Thick. Yeah. And it's everywhere for a guy like me with a beard. It was challenging to eat it. Speaker 3 00:08:17 And I found a, I found that like, it took away from the gravy a little bit in the sense that like the gravy got absorbed into the cheese as well. Speaker 0 00:08:25 Right. So if you're a cheese person though, and you want cheese to be the star of the poutine, This is the way to do it. Speaker 3 00:08:32 One of the cheesiest poutines, for Speaker 0 00:08:34 Sure. If you love cheese, this is your, this is your go-to jam because it is the star and they have good fries too. Speaker 3 00:08:40 And the environment there is, it's a very fun place to go for like a, you know, a dinner day, play, some games have a drink if you're of age, you know, that kind of thing. Speaker 0 00:08:48 That's right. We're not going to rank your poutine. And we're not going to say you're better or worse than anybody else. It was good. Strongly recommend you go there just saying cheese is a star of that dish Speaker 3 00:08:57 A hundred percent. Speaker 0 00:08:58 So those were our routines that we had this week for our last week for poutine week for the big brothers, big sisters, um, they were doing a fundraiser. So that's an awesome organization that got us involved with poutine week. So support them in any way, shape or form that you can. Speaker 3 00:09:14 I think, uh, we need to mention to more people that we do on locations for events too. I want to get invited to more things. If anybody is out there doing any kind of event, whether it's for a church, accompany your school, anything we like to show up and talk to the people and be invited to an event Speaker 0 00:09:32 That's right. Sporting events. We've been to, we've been to schools. We've been to concerts. I did some on locations in Winnipeg. Yeah. Speaker 3 00:09:38 So hang towels. Anything, if you, if you want us to come and, and be on location at your thing, we will come to your house and hang out. Speaker 0 00:09:46 That's great. Oh, I'd love to do an in-house actually, there's a guy we should follow up with a months ago. He wrote us and he said he had, he lived in a small house, Speaker 3 00:09:54 All the tiny house Speaker 0 00:09:54 And wanted to do on location. I got to follow up. Speaker 3 00:09:57 Yeah. Like anybody, like, we just want to, anything that you think would be a fun episode. We do too. Speaker 0 00:10:02 So dream location, filming episode. Speaker 3 00:10:06 Oh, well, that's like, that's cheating. Cause like it's definitely not in this country. Of Speaker 0 00:10:11 Course. Speaker 3 00:10:11 No, I would, I would have to be, I would want to film somewhere, like extremely random, like go to like Europe somewhere. And like post-op in like a town center where like, nobody knows us, just hold up a sign in the language being like, do you want to be filmed on a podcast and just meet some strangers? Yeah. Speaker 0 00:10:30 Yeah. I'm somewhat in the same vein it's out of country. I don't have a set location, but I think it would be cool if somebody invited us not to film during, but invited us to their wedding. Speaker 3 00:10:42 Oh yeah. That would be cool. Speaker 0 00:10:43 And like, we filmed like either before or after the wedding or if we could film like the bride and the groom before the wedding and ask them like, Hey, are you excited? Are you nervous? Whatever. And then film them as a couple after the fact. Speaker 3 00:10:56 Yeah. Or any kind of like big family event, like a family reunion of like family. Neither of us know, I just show up and see how integrated we could get. Yup. A hundred percent. Yeah. Speaker 0 00:11:07 So that's like location. I would love to be out of country as well. But yeah. I think like being part of a wedding, not just for the day, like I said before and after, during, and like the questions that we would have if we got to meet the family. Yeah. Speaker 3 00:11:21 Actually part of the wedding, hang out and do the reception. Speaker 0 00:11:25 Yeah. So they go down to like Mexico or like Dominican for like the week I get to know people and interview them like juring yeah. Speaker 3 00:11:32 Yeah. I feel like I have to bring them on and be like, this is auntie Sue. We just met her. And she has a cool story Speaker 0 00:11:39 For you. So anybody watching the show, if you want to have us do an on location in Mexico, Dominican, Speaker 3 00:11:46 Or really anywhere up Speaker 0 00:11:48 For it, Speaker 3 00:11:49 I go to Edmonton. I would go to like cold lake. I would go to any random place just for an episode or Speaker 0 00:11:55 Yeah. We like doing fun stuff. So yeah, definitely take us up on the offer. We do on locations. Speaker 3 00:11:59 Genuine. Speaker 0 00:12:00 It's genuine. Like everything. Speaker 3 00:12:02 Or even if you want to come on the show, you come to us. We do that too. Speaker 0 00:12:06 That's right. Well, that's the other thing, everybody watching at home, which this is not a problem. I think everybody knows this by now, but like all you have to do to get on the shows, ask, Speaker 3 00:12:13 But I think what they need to start doing is telling their friends. Yeah. Yeah. Like even if you don't want to come on the show, you're not comfortable. I'm sure everybody that listens has somebody that they'd go, wow. They would be great in that seat. So you need to tell them to message us so we can get them on Speaker 0 00:12:30 That's right. Some people have message and said, Hey, you should have this person come on the show. And I'm always like, yeah, we would love them to tell them to reach out. So if you have somebody that you want on a show, like Tanner said, get them to reach out to us. It's super simple. Just message us on Facebook. Boom. Speaker 3 00:12:44 We always answer. We Speaker 0 00:12:46 Always answer our Speaker 3 00:12:46 Real. Speaker 0 00:12:48 Yeah, exactly. There's a team. There's a team. Luckily it's not just me and Tanner. Speaker 3 00:12:52 Yeah. You wouldn't be hearing us today. If there wasn't several people behind the scenes holding us up. Speaker 0 00:12:57 Hence why sponsors are nice. Speaker 3 00:13:00 Yes, absolutely. We always appreciate a helping hand. Yeah. Speaker 0 00:13:04 Yeah. That's right. So yeah. All locations is big deal. So that was fun. Thank you. Big brothers, big sisters for the poutine week. We did that. That was a good time. Uh, I just went to the super bowl party. Speaker 3 00:13:15 Yeah. Speaker 0 00:13:16 Weekend at, uh, Dennis Dennison. Chris put that on that, uh, 57 north Speaker 3 00:13:22 Chargers. One chargers, wireless Speaker 0 00:13:24 Spoiler alert. Sorry if you're PVR in it. But listen, it was literally like a week ago, if not more. Um, but what I want to talk about from that evening or afternoon, I pulled a shift, a couple, the shift, um, was they had a chili. What's it called? A chili cheese dog. Speaker 3 00:13:43 Like a hot dog. Speaker 0 00:13:44 Oh dude. Speaker 3 00:13:46 You love hot dogs. I Speaker 0 00:13:47 Love hot dogs. And I got to give him a shout out once again. Not a sponsor currently. Maybe in future wink, wink, nudge, nudge, but uh, their hot dog, bro. Speaker 3 00:13:58 Where does it rank on your list of hotdogs? Cause I know you gotta list. Speaker 0 00:14:02 It's locally. Number Speaker 3 00:14:06 One, number one, locally. Speaker 0 00:14:07 Number one locally. Not even, Not even competition Speaker 3 00:14:11 Now all time. Speaker 0 00:14:13 It's in the top five Speaker 3 00:14:15 And you've eaten. Oh, wat of hot dogs. Speaker 0 00:14:19 What I appreciate about this is most restaurants that have a hot dog just like cheap out on the Wiener. They're just like, oh, well Barry with the chili will buried with the cheese. Well, we'll put lots of like whatever on it. The sausage that they picked for this hotdog was premium meat. Speaker 3 00:14:37 Well that's, that's how you make good food is you start with a premium meat pre Speaker 0 00:14:41 Um, so like as soon as you bite into it, you're like, oh this isn't, I'm not going to shout out any like regular hot dogs. This is like a real sausage hotdogs. So like right off the bat, you're like, wow. Then they're Chile. It's like, I don't know if, if their mother is making the chili, Speaker 3 00:14:58 Somebody who has something like a grandma with recipes, that's seven generations old. Speaker 0 00:15:02 Ah, it's not like, rest, this is homemade from the soul. You can taste the love in it. Chile. Then the bun that they put it on was like a sweet kind of bond, which was soft. But it still was like hard enough that he like kept all of the, the meat and like gravy and in it. Yeah. And then they put the cheese was just like a good, like not a mild cheese, not a strong cheese, but like a good cheese. Speaker 3 00:15:28 You, Speaker 0 00:15:29 Yeah, it was good. Yeah. Speaker 3 00:15:31 You know what a generational like my generational nickname for hotdogs is what some people call them. They call them Lizzy's Glissy's yeah. That's a nickname for hotdogs now. Really? I'm serious. I don't know. It's a Lizzie. Yeah. It comes from like the Washington Maryland area. Um, but like, there's like lots of videos of kids being like, got that glitzy on me. Cause it used to mean gun, but now kids are using it to mean hot dog. Speaker 0 00:15:58 It used to mean gun, like in Speaker 3 00:16:00 Like Speaker 0 00:16:00 Chicago Speaker 3 00:16:01 Area. Like that was slang for gun. But now people have taken it over to me and hot dog. So if you look up like, you know what urban dictionary is? Yeah. Like if you look up the urban dictionary definition of Lizzy, it comes up as another name for hot dog. Speaker 0 00:16:15 Huh? Speaker 3 00:16:16 Yeah. Speaker 0 00:16:17 Interesting. That is a fun fact. I'm not going to be calling the glossies anytime soon. Speaker 3 00:16:21 You don't think that's your new preferred word. Speaker 0 00:16:23 No, Speaker 3 00:16:23 No. It doesn't fit your aesthetic. Speaker 0 00:16:25 No, definitely not. Now I'm thinking about hotdogs though. Like the best hot talk. It doesn't exist anymore in candy. You can't get it. And I think that's why I'm putting it. Number one, because it's rare. You can't get it. Maybe in the states you can. I don't know. Speaker 3 00:16:41 Yeah. Cause the AMW in Canada is a completely separate entity. Even the states, we Speaker 0 00:16:45 Talked about this before we Speaker 3 00:16:46 Have a and w Speaker 0 00:16:47 And w whistle dog like goes down in my brain as like the bass hotdog, Speaker 3 00:16:54 You know, what was extremely weird. I went to a LA and I like, I don't know the states and what they have and where they have it. But went to LA was very rare that you saw like an a and w a dairy queen. Like the things that we're used to seeing here, like at taco bell has all of the things that they just have there. So instead of taco bells, you'd see like Del tacos instead of like subway, you'd see like their version. And it was very weird. Cause like, I know that they have all of these things. You just don't see them. Speaker 0 00:17:24 Yeah. Listen, it's an invisible line. But like, we're two different countries that border this legit. Speaker 3 00:17:29 Yeah. It's crazy. You go down there and how everything's completely different. Speaker 0 00:17:33 They can't get some of our candy down there and we can't get some of their stuff. Speaker 3 00:17:35 Like they don't have eat Moore's coffee, crisps. They have Smarties, but there are what we call rockets. Speaker 0 00:17:42 They don't get celebration cookies down there. Speaker 3 00:17:44 They don't get a lot of things. Speaker 0 00:17:46 These Hawken cheesies. Speaker 3 00:17:47 Yeah. They don't have chips. Speaker 0 00:17:50 God. Yeah. How do you not have ketchup Speaker 3 00:17:52 Chips. Right. And like, things like catch up trips and poutine. Like you think these were American? How Speaker 0 00:17:57 Did they not have poutine in America? Speaker 3 00:17:59 Right. Like I like, if somebody came up to me and was like, Hey, I got a dish with gravy, fries, and cheese. Where do you think it come from? I would not guess Canada. Speaker 0 00:18:06 No, no. You would not. No, Speaker 3 00:18:08 I'd be like that is, that sounds like something you would eat to gain seven pounds in an American diner. That's Speaker 0 00:18:13 Right. Speaker 3 00:18:14 No, it's us and I love it. Speaker 0 00:18:16 Yeah. So yeah, no, the patina week was good. I can't believe that. Like, I love how you just throw ketchup chips. That's a mind blower, but that's a fact they don't go ketchup chips down there. Yeah. Speaker 3 00:18:26 And I don't, I think like maybe all dressers and other flavors that they don't have that we have up here. That's very popular Speaker 0 00:18:32 Talking about very popular chips. You and me, we're hanging out having some snacks one day and you busted out some Pringles. What were the flavor of those Speaker 3 00:18:39 Pizza? Pringles? Speaker 0 00:18:41 Listen, people at home once again, not a sponsor, but Pringles hit us up. Those Pringles. They didn't taste anything like pizza per se. But they were de licious. Speaker 3 00:18:53 Yeah. They were like, I'd like, Hey, we're like several chip flavors in what? Yeah. And then like, yeah, Pringle. I usually am a, go-to like original Pringles. I like flavors of chips, but Pringles is an original cause it's a totally different ship. But I found that flavor and it is bought. Speaker 0 00:19:09 Yeah. Now I don't, you weren't here when it happened at the Superbowl, but you may have watched the clips afterwards. You see any of the halftime show? Speaker 3 00:19:18 Uh, yeah. Like where, uh, and M played a Nene. Dr. Dre played a piano. Speaker 0 00:19:22 Played nice. Speaker 3 00:19:24 Yeah. I seen a post and it was like almost didn't notice M and M taking a knee. Cause I was too shocked that Dr. Dre was playing a piano. Speaker 0 00:19:31 That's hilarious. That's hilarious. You caught me off guard with one. I just wanted to say it was an epic halftime show, but that was, that was witty. Speaker 3 00:19:40 Yeah. And they, uh, they told, uh, they told them and M he couldn't take a knee. Speaker 0 00:19:46 They'd told him that ahead of time. Speaker 3 00:19:47 Yeah. Which was like, what? Yeah. The counter productive to what you like, I'm willing to bet if they had just said nothing, he wouldn't have done, he wouldn't have done it. Speaker 0 00:19:56 You think like conspiracy wise, they wanted him to do it Speaker 3 00:19:59 Probably for the viewership and stuff. Speaker 0 00:20:01 They wanted to like, don't tell him and him not to do something. Yeah. Speaker 3 00:20:04 Yeah. Cause like, he's just going to go. That'd be like, Hey, don't cuss. Speaker 0 00:20:07 That's Speaker 3 00:20:07 Right. Like you just don't want me to show up or you want me to just show up or like telling NWA, not to play that one song that aggravates the police, Like their gun up. Like Speaker 0 00:20:18 That's all I did not know. They told them not to. That's funny. Yeah. It was a great halftime show though. And for somebody of my age demographic, that was like high school for me. Oh my God. The bar was honestly the best halftime show I've ever seen. And one of the most entertaining Superbowls that I've seen in a while. Speaker 3 00:20:37 Yeah. It's like a, it's like that quote I read it's like, did you hear, they put a football game in between that concert Speaker 0 00:20:43 The other night. That's right. So you did see it. Then Speaker 3 00:20:45 I seen Speaker 0 00:20:46 To the clubs. Yeah. Your generation you're clipping it. I get it. Now. It was great. M and M 50 cent Snoop Dogg. Mary J Blige, Mary J Blige playing the drums, which I was like, that was a nice little sneaker parents. Oh. And Kendrick, Kendrick Lamar murdered. I'm surprised. He like, like that he played some of the songs just cause like the lyrical content, but he was able to clean it up. So he had some of the bangers there. Speaker 3 00:21:12 And again, you don't invite like a NWA or like rage against the machine against the machine. Yeah. I'm late for it right now. But uh, before we, uh, sign off, got to give a big shout out to Norelle Toyota. Um, it's good. Clean local content. Um, and yeah, we just love doing it. So I want to do it for the rest of my life. And uh, if we can get some local support for that, I'm all for it. So on that. So on that note, Tanner, thanks for that combo today. There we go. And uh, hopefully you're having a great day and we'll see you tomorrow. Peace. Speaker 2 00:22:48 I just dies that desk.
